Abstract: A unique transaction identifier governor generates and/or validates a unique trade identifier based on a set of pre-defined rules. The identifier is made up of multiple components, each component being generated using a linear construct, a rule-based hierarchies construct, or an algorithmic construct. Additionally, the governor enables the user to implement a customized construct for generating strings of Arabic numerals, letters, or any combination thereof as separate identifier components. Once an identifier is created and/or validated, the governor updates its database to include the identifier, and components therefor, in a comprehensive list of all previously generated identifiers. Thus, the governor is able to validate uniqueness of identifiers by cross-checking each generated component or identifier against the previously generated identifiers, and components therefor, stored within the governor's database(s).
