  • Patent number: 9042356
Abstract: A method and apparatus for confirming delivery of group data to a plurality of radio communication devices in a wireless communication system. The wireless communication system includes a plurality of radio communication devices in communication with a sender. In operation, the sender sends group data to the plurality of radio communication devices and further determines a call hang time sufficient to contain a dedicated acknowledgment slot for each of the plurality of radio communication devices. The sender reserves an acknowledgment slot in the determined call hang time for each radio communication device and further sends an acknowledgment polling signal to each radio communication device, where the acknowledgment polling signal identifies the respective acknowledgment slot that is reserved for each radio communication device to acknowledge receipt of the group data. The sender accordingly receives an acknowledgment from the radio communication devices during its respective reserved acknowledgment slot.

  • Patent number: 9043930
Abstract: Systems and methods for screening applicants are disclosed herein. A method of screening applicants is performed by a screening server. The server begins by receiving a selection of screening services and an applicant profile that identifies an applicant. The screening continues by generating screening results specified by the selection of screening services based on the applicant profile. A property manager is then notified that the screening results are available for the applicant based upon the applicant profile. The screening results are then provided to the property manager based upon the applicant profile. Based on these screening results, the screener or property manager can make a decision about the applicant and communicate a decision action to the applicant.

  • Patent number: 9041357
Abstract: An apparatus for minimizing self-discharge of a smart battery pack is provided. During initial storage of the smart battery pack (100), prior to be being charged, a self-discharge protection circuit (110) disables smart battery circuitry (130). A minimal current drain is maintained while the smart battery circuitry (130) is disabled. Upon coupling of the smart battery pack (100) to a charger, the protections circuit (110) enables the smart battery circuitry (130). Battery packs having to be shipped with partially drained cells as part of shipping precaution requirements are no longer faced with the additional drainage problem previously caused by the smart battery circuitry (130) during storage.

  • Patent number: 9042291
Abstract: An infrastructure device in a 3GPP compliant system performs a method to allocate MBMS bearers. The 3GPP compliant system includes a RAN partitioned into a plurality MBMS services areas, wherein each MBMS service area has a plurality of pre-established MBMS bearers for transporting media streams. The infrastructure device: receives a request to transmit a media stream to a communication group; selects a set of the MBMS service areas for transporting the media stream; determines an available MBMS bearer in each selected MBMS service area to assign to transport the media stream; and identifies the assigned MBMS bearers to members of the communication group. In addition, a UE performs a method for MBMS service area location update in the 3GPP compliant system. Accordingly, the UE: determines a 3GPP MBMS service area in which the UE is currently located; and identifies the 3GPP MBMS service area to an infrastructure device.

  • Patent number: 9042845
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for detecting radio accessories within a communication system formed of a radio, a primary accessory and a secondary accessory. The secondary accessory comprises a resistor network which switchably couples parallel resistors in response to a bias input generated from either a microphone bias voltage or speaker bias voltage of the primary accessory. Various parallel combinations of the resistors indicate the secondary accessory type. Control logic in the primary accessory determines the type of secondary accessory by comparing digital signals representative of the current sourced through the resistor network (175) to predetermined values stored in look-up table. The utilization of the microphone bias and/or speaker bias of the primary accessory advantageously negates the need for any additional pins or complex circuitry at the primary accessory.

  • Patent number: 9039902
Abstract: A water treatment system is disclosed having electrolytic cell for liberating hydrogen from a base solution. The base solution may be a solution of brine for generating sodium hypochlorite, or potable water to be oxidized. The cell has first and second opposing electrode endplates held apart from each other by a pair of supports such that the supports enclose opposing sides of the endplates to form a cell chamber. One or more inner electrode plates are spaced apart from each other in the cell chamber in between the first and second electrode plates. The supports are configured to electrically isolate the first and second electrode plates and the inner electrode plates from each other. The first and second electrode plates are configured to receive opposite polarity charges that passively charge the inner electrode plates via conduction from the base solution to form a chemical reaction in the base solution as the base solution passes through the cell chamber.
