Abstract: Circuits for protecting devices, such as gallium nitride (GaN) devices, and operating methods thereof are described. Such circuits may include a temperature sensor configured to sense the temperature of at least a portion of a device, and a phase shifter configured to shift the phase of the signal output by the device, when the sensed temperature is outside a safe temperature range, e.g., above a predefined temperature threshold. The phase may be shifted discretely or continuously. These circuits safeguard devices from damaging operating conditions to prolong the operating life of the protected devices.

  • Publication number: 20200062006
Abstract: A recording head in an inkjet recording apparatus forms an image on paper using ink. A first sheet of paper has first and second sides. A second sheet of paper has third and fourth sides. The recording head forms a first image and a first mark image on the first side based on first image data, and then a second image and a second mark image on the second side based on second image data. The first mark image represents a first reference location in a first rectangular region in which the first image is to be formed. The second mark image represents a second reference location in a second rectangular region in which the second image is to be formed. A controller determines an enlargement ratio of the second image to be formed on the fourth side based on a discrepancy between the first and second reference locations.

  • Publication number: 20200068087
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a display section, a display controller, a reading section, an image detector, and a determining section. The display controller controls the display section. The reading section reads multiple documents placed on a specific surface of the image forming apparatus in a batch and generates whole image data indicating a whole image as a result of reading. The image detector detects document images corresponding to the documents based on the whole image data. The determining section determines whether or not batch reading of the documents has succeeded based on a result of detection of the document images. The display controller controls the display section such that the display section displays the document images in a first display format when the determining section determines that the reading has not succeeded, or in a second display format when the determining section determines that the reading has succeeded.

  • Publication number: 20200063155
Abstract: In the present invention, HPPD polypeptides and plants containing them showing a full tolerance against one or more HPPD inhibitor herbicides belonging to various chemical classes are described. A set of mutant HPPD polypeptides have been designed which have either no or only a significantly reduced affinity to HPPD inhibitor herbicides and, at the same time, the rate of dissociation of the HPPD inhibitors of the mutant HPPD polypeptide is increased to such an extent that the HPPD inhibitors no longer act as slow-binding or slow, tight-binding inhibitors but, instead of this, have become fully reversible inhibitors. In particular, isolated polynucleotides encoding mutant HPPD polypeptides conferring tolerance to HPPD inhibitor herbicides belonging to various chemical classes are provided. Additionally, amino acid sequences corresponding to the polynucleotides are encompassed.

  • Patent number: 10570010
Abstract: The various technologies presented herein relate to formation of carbon micromechanical systems (CMEMS), wherein the CMEMS comprise multiple layers of carbon structures and are formed using a plurality of photoresist precursors that are processed to form carbon. The various embodiments can be utilized in producing a plurality of CMEMS with full production level fabrication, e.g., 6 inch wafers can be processed. A pyrolyzed layer of carbon is lithographically defined after pyrolysis, wherein the post-pyrolysis etch process can produce carbon structures having repeatable and accurate device geometries, with straight sidewalls. A sacrificial layer can be applied to facilitate separation of a first carbon layer from a second carbon layer, wherein, upon pyrolysis to form the second carbon layer and lithography thereof, the sacrificial layer is removed to form a CMEMS comprising a first carbon layer (e.g., comprising bottom contacts) located beneath a second carbon layer (e.g., a mechanical layer).
