Abstract: According to an embodiment, a conveyance assisting apparatus includes a placement portion, a base portion, a support portion, a moving device, and a projecting portion. The placement portion has a placement surface on which a package is placed. The base portion is fixed to a conveyance apparatus including a door portion to be opened/closed between a closed-position and an open-position. The support portion is on the base portion and supports the placement portion so that the placement portion is movable in a first-direction between a first-position where the placement portion covers the door portion and a second-position where the placement portion uncovers the door portion. The moving device is on the base portion and configured to move the placement portion. The projecting portion is on the placement surface and extends in a second direction intersecting the first direction.

Abstract: Systems and methods for identifying a status of components of hydraulic fracturing units including a prime mover and a hydraulic fracturing pump to pump fracturing fluid into a wellhead via a manifold may include a diagnostic control assembly. The diagnostic control assembly may include sensors associated with the hydraulic fracturing units or the manifold, and a supervisory control unit to determine whether the sensors are generating signals outside a calibration range, determine whether a fluid parameter associated with an auxiliary system of the hydraulic fracturing units is indicative of a fluid-related problem, determine whether lubrication associated with the prime mover, the hydraulic fracturing pump, or a transmission of the hydraulic fracturing units has a lubrication fluid temperature greater than a maximum lubrication temperature, or determine an extent to which a heat exchanger assembly associated with the hydraulic fracturing units is cooling fluid passing through the heat exchanger assembly.

Abstract: A system employs a trained model to detect artifact(s) associated with artifact type(s) appearing in a reproduction of a source image (a test image). The system determines differences between the test image and the source image and outputs probabilities that the artifact(s) in the test image are associated with each of the artifact type(s). A dataset for training the model includes: (i) a reference category including reference image(s) without any artifacts; and (ii) artifact categories, each corresponding to a respective one of the artifact types and including noised images associated with the respective artifact type. Each noised image includes one of the reference images and an artifact associated with the respective artifact type. The model is trained to detect the artifact type(s) by providing the model with the dataset and causing the model to process differences between each noised image and the reference image in the noised image.

Abstract: A method of gradually revealing an image using cube puzzles is provided. A first image is divided into a plurality of blocks. Each block can have one or more arbitrary colors. A second image is then generated from the first image where each block of the second image corresponds to one or more blocks of the first image. The blocks of the second image are unicolor blocks with colors that are selected from one of the six colors of a cube puzzle. Groups of adjacent blocks of the second image with the same number of rows and columns as the sides of the cube puzzles are assigned to participants to match to the color of the blocks on the sides of their cube puzzles. Once each participant matches the colors of an assigned region on a side of the corresponding cube puzzle, the matched region is reveled to all participants.

An inkjet textile printing apparatus includes a recording head that ejects an ink toward an image formation area of a textile printing target and a first treatment head that ejects a first treatment liquid toward at least the image formation area of the textile printing target. An inkjet textile printing method incudes: inkjetting an ink toward an image formation area of a textile printing target; and inkjetting a first treatment liquid toward at least the image formation area of the textile printing target. The first treatment liquid is the above-described inkjet textile printing treatment liquid.

Abstract: A photonic integrated circuit (PIC) in which some optical waveguides have laterally tilted waveguide cores used to implement passive polarization-handling circuit elements, e.g., suitable for processing polarization-division-multiplexed optical communication signals. Different sections of such waveguide cores may have continuously varying or fixed lateral tilt angles. Different polarization-handling circuit elements can be realized, e.g., using different combinations of end-connected untilted and laterally tilted waveguide-core sections. In some embodiments, laterally tilted waveguide cores may incorporate multiple-quantum-well structures and be used to implement active circuit elements. At least some embodiments beneficially lend themselves to highly reproducible fabrication processes, which can advantageously be used to achieve a relatively high yield of the corresponding PICs during manufacture.

The first cam portion includes a cam surface for contacting the skin of a patient outside of an incision. The length of the band extending between the first retractor and the second retractor is adjustable.

Abstract: A method to assess the integrity of a structure is provided and comprises the steps of: i) applying a sinusoidally varying force to the structure at a frequency or frequencies below the lowest frequency that could cause resonance in the structure whereby to set up a dynamic response dominated by the stiffness of the structure; and ii) monitoring the dynamic response of the structure. A device to assess the integrity of a structure is also provided.

The communication interface communicates with a device. The memory stores feature information of biological information of a registrant for use in biometrics and management information indicating a device which the registrant has a right to use. The processor authenticates whether a user whose biological information has been acquired by the sensor is the registrant having a right to use the device communicated through the communication interface, and transmits a result of the authentication to the device communicated through the communication interface.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods for allowing users to specify interactive graphical designs are provided. The graphical designs can comprise multiple dimension versions—such as a tablet dimension version or a phone dimension version. Some of the methods involve an inheritance structure that defines a first dimension version of the design as a child of a second dimension version of the design. Specifications for properties of widgets in the graphical design are applied to the design in accordance with the inheritance specification. Some of the methods involve an inheritance characterization that determines how properties of a widget are affected by the inheritance structure across different dimension versions. Some of the methods involve an existence property for the widgets.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing emergency assistance includes receiving audio, visual, or text data about an ongoing emergency at a public safety answering point, comparing that data to a database of other emergencies with an artificial intelligence engine, recognizing patterns in aggregated and correlated data by the artificial intelligence engine, and generating appropriate audio, visual, and text output for a human operator to respond to the emergency. An AI engine receives audio data, visual data, and text data related to ongoing emergencies being received at public safety answering points and compares it with data from other emergencies. The AI engine identifies key words and patterns and generates appropriate messages for operators. The system continuously generates feedback to the AI engine to aid in machine learning. The feedback includes: “the message was correct; continue drawing this conclusion”; and “the message was wrong; do not continue drawing this conclusion.

Abstract: An aggregation unit includes a transceiver configured to transmit unique signals to a plurality of transmission reception points (TRxPs) for transmission by the plurality of TRxPs and receive uplink signals received by the plurality of TRxPs from a user equipment. The aggregation unit also includes a processor configured to generate a sum of the uplink signals from a subset of the plurality of TRxPs. The subset is determined based on measurements of the unique signals performed by the UE. In some cases, the subset is determined by a baseband unit that receives a measurement report including the measurements performed by the UE. The transceiver is configured to transmit the sum of the uplink signals to the baseband unit over a fronthaul link.
