Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the oxychlorination of ethylene by means of a catalyst composition comprising an alumina support impregnated with cupric chloride, magnesium chloride and a chloride of an alkali metal chosen from sodium and lithium. The oxychlorination performed in this manner makes it possible to obtain an excellent yield without the reactor being corroded by the catalyst composition employed.
