  • Patent number: 8354469
Abstract: The invention concerns a composition comprising: at least one melt-processible per(halo)fluoropolymer (polymer A); from 0.01 to 5% by weight of polymer A of at least one smoke-suppressant agent (S) having a decomposition temperature of at least 350° C., selected from the group consisting of molybdenum derivatives, borates of an alkaline-earth metal or of a group 12 transition metal, and mixtures thereof; optionally, at least one oxide of a metal different from molybdenum. The composition of the invention excels simultaneously in providing excellent insulating properties on meal wires or optical fibers, outstanding processing parameters for high speed cable manufacture and high performance ratings on flammability, smoke generation and fuel load. Advantageously, cables comprising said composition comply with 25/50/8 requirements according to NFPA-255 and -259 for limited combustible materials.

  • Publication number: 20080227904
Abstract: The invention pertains to a thermoplastic halogenated polymer composition comprising: at least one thermoplastic halogenated polymer (A); and less than 30% by weight of (A) of fused silica particles having a BET (N2) surface area of at most 50 m2/g (B). The invention also relates to a process for manufacturing the thermoplastic halogenated polymer composition, to the use of fused silica particles as impact modifier, and to the articles therefrom. Preferably the thermoplastic halogenated polymer is a semi-crystalline fluoropolymer.

  • Patent number: 6812267
Abstract: A process for making pigmented PVDF-based powder coatings by coagulation and powder based coatings made by the process. The process involves blending a PVDF latex and a water reducible acrylic polymer and pigment dispersion, adding coagulant to precipitate solid PVDF and pigment associated by ionic interaction with acrylic polymer binder, separating solids and drying the precipitate. Also, methods for coating substrates with the powder coating and coated substrates.
