  • Patent number: 8831689
Abstract: Manipulation receiving unit receives an operation input by a user manipulation. In case the manipulation receiving unit does not receive an input operation for a predetermined time period, a state control unit sets an operation state to a power saving state. However, if the voice receiving unit receives voice input before a non-operation time period reaches the predetermined time period, the status control unit does not set the operation state to the power saving state even if the manipulation receiving unit does not receive an input operation during the predetermined time period. The non-operation time period is defined as a time period during which the manipulation receiving unit does not receive an input operation.

  • Patent number: 8830197
Abstract: An electronic device includes a front panel made of resin. The front panel is disposed on the front side of an organic electroluminescent display panel and functions as the front surface of the electronic device; and an adhesive agent layer formed between the organic electroluminescent display panel and the front panel. The organic electroluminescent display panel is fixed to the front panel via the adhesive agent layer. This structure is able to reduce a load applied to the organic electroluminescent display panel and ensure shock resistance for the organic electroluminescent display panel.

  • Patent number: 8825482
Abstract: Consumer electronic devices have been developed with enormous information processing capabilities, high quality audio and video outputs, large amounts of memory, and may also include wired and/or wireless networking capabilities. Additionally, relatively unsophisticated and inexpensive sensors, such as microphones, video camera, GPS or other position sensors, when coupled with devices having these enhanced capabilities, can be used to detect subtle features about users and their environments. A variety of audio, video, simulation and user interface paradigms have been developed to utilize the enhanced capabilities of these devices. These paradigms can be used separately or together in any combination. One paradigm automatically creating user identities using speaker identification. Another paradigm includes a control button with 3-axis pressure sensitivity for use with game controllers and other input devices.

  • Patent number: 8819590
Abstract: In an image display apparatus, an image classification unit generates one or more of image groups by classifying image data to which attribution information is added based on the attribute information. A display control unit displays, on a display device, a list of a plurality of thumbnail images of the image data included in each of the image groups generated by the image classification unit, in a manner in which the plurality of thumbnail images are piled up for every image group. Herein, the display control unit acquires the predetermined number of sheets of image data from the selected image group to display, on the display device, the image data as a background image in which the image data are arranged.

  • Patent number: 8818866
Abstract: An advertisement inserted in contents of, for example, a game does not serve its purpose after a while. An advertisement-information reception unit (112) receives an advertisement-space definition file (32). The advertisement-space definition file (32) is a file that defines an advertisement space for an advertisement to be inserted when contents are displayed and an advertising agency is assigned to the advertisement space. An assignment changing unit (116) cancels the assignment of an advertising agency, whose license has expired, to the advertisement space even when the advertising agency is assigned to the advertising space in the advertisement-space definition file (32). An advertisement downloading unit (118) downloads advertisement data to be inserted in the advertisement space from the server of the advertising agency validly assigned to the advertisement space.

  • Patent number: 8818813
Abstract: A plurality of statements are received from within a grammar structure. Each of the statements is formed by a number of word sets. A number of alignment regions across the statements are identified by aligning the statements on a word set basis. Each aligned word set represents an alignment region. A number of potential confusion zones are identified across the statements. Each potential confusion zone is defined by words from two or more of the statements at corresponding positions outside the alignment regions. For each of the identified potential confusion zones, phonetic pronunciations of the words within the potential confusion zone are analyzed to determine a measure of confusion probability between the words when audibly processed by a speech recognition system during the computing event. An identity of the potential confusion zones across the statements and their corresponding measure of confusion probability are reported to facilitate grammar structure improvement.

  • Patent number: 8810688
Abstract: A database stores a plurality of image data to which the shooting date is attached. A list displaying unit displays on a display device a list of thumbnail images of the image data. An instruction receiving unit acquires a thumbnail image as a specified image. An image classifying unit generates one or a plurality of groups of images by classifying the plurality of image data in terms of the year when the image data were shot. A representative image selector acquires, as a representative image of each image group, image data having a shooting month-day identical to or close to the shooting month-day of the image data corresponding to the specified image from each image group. The list displaying unit displays a list of the each image group for each year and displays the representative image placed at the head of each image group.

  • Publication number: 20140229974
Abstract: Of the types of content included in a broadcast signal, a type of content different from broadcast content is selectively stored. A broadcast signal reception block receives a broadcast signal of a selected channel. A display control block controls such that broadcast content included in the broadcast signal received by the broadcast signal reception block is displayed on a display block. If storage content that is content identified to be stored is included in the broadcast signal received by the broadcast signal reception block, then a storage content output block outputs this storage content to a storage block.
