Abstract: A method and apparatus is described here that categorizes images by extracting a subscene and describing the subscene with a top level feature vector and a division feature vector, which are descriptions of edge gradient classifications within rectangular bounding boxes. By filtering subscene feature vectors in images with a Gaussian mixture based model pool (obtained in a subscene modeling phase), the images may be categorized (in an subscene recognition phase) with probabilities relating to each subscene. Higher probabilities are likelier correlations. The device may be a single or multiple core CPU, or parallelized vector processor for characterizing many images. The images may be photographs, videos, or video stills, without restriction. When used real-time, the method may be used for visual searching or sorting.
Abstract: A base station measures the uplink load on an uplink channel and controls the transmit timing of one or more mobile terminals on the uplink channel based on the measurements of the uplink load. The transmit timing of the mobile terminals may be controlled by sending timing control signals to the mobile terminals over a downlink control channel. In one embodiment, the transmit timing of the uplink channel is slaved to the transmit timing on a downlink channel. In this case, the uplink timing may be controlled by adjusting the downlink transmit timing.

Abstract: A detecting device including a pressure sensor that is deformed by a load from an outside and causes stress dispersion includes a slip detecting unit that calculates a pressure center position using a pressure value detected by the pressure sensor, calculates a movement value of the calculated pressure center position using a temporal change of the pressure center position, and detects a slip on the basis of the calculated movement value of the pressure center position. The pressure sensor has a multilayer structure in which two detecting units that detect pressure are arranged to hold a viscoelastic body made of a viscoelastic material that is deformed by a load from the outside.
Abstract: An electronic device includes: a circuit substrate; and an antenna element installed on the circuit substrate, wherein the antenna element is installed at a position apart from an end of the circuit substrate by a given offset so that distribution variation of irradiation characteristics of the antenna element within a horizontal surface is reduced both in cases where the electronic device in which the antenna element is installed is set in portrait orientation and in landscape orientation.
Abstract: A communication device includes a transmission amplifier supplied with a binary transmission signal is capable of choosing between amplifying the transmission signal and entering a high-impedance state at an output. An antenna is supplied with a transmission signal output from the transmission amplifier. A comparator compares a signal received by the antenna with threshold values to obtain a reception signal, which is supplied to a processing unit. A capacitor is connected between the transmission amplifier and the antenna or between the antenna and the comparator. A control unit allows the transmission amplifier to be in the high-impedance state for a period during which the processing unit receives a reception signal.

Higher probabilities are likelier correlations. The device may be a single or multiple core CPU, or parallelized vector processor for characterizing many images. The images may be photographs, videos, or video stills, without restriction. When used real-time, the method may be used for visual searching or sorting.
