When address information recorded by land prepits is detected from a disk on which lands and grooves as recording tracks are formed and address information is recorded as land prepits on the lands, a window signal is generated by binarizing a push-pull signal (window generation circuit 31), the push-pull signal is integrated in a period based on the window signal (integration circuit 32), and the address information by the land prepits is extracted from the integrated signal (33, 34, 35, and 26).
Abstract: In a disc changer in which any one is selected from a set of disc-shaped recording media (2) stored in a disc compartment (3) and signals are written and/or read to and/or from the selected disc-shaped recording medium (2), resin layers (192), (194) and (195), softer than the disc-shaped recording medium (2) in a recording and/or playback apparatus (6) are formed on a pair of disc holding members (89) holding the selected disc-shaped recording medium (2) rotatably while chucking the latter and a disc tray (193) on which each of the disc-shaped recording media stored in the disc compartment (3) is placed. The resin layers assure to prevent the disc-shaped recording medium (2) from being damaged due to contact with the disc holding members (89) and disc tray (193).
Abstract: Apparatus nominally used for recording includes a reproduction section to play digital data from a recording medium recorded with that digital data and retrieval information, a recording section to write the digital data reproduced by the reproduction section and record the retrieval information on a control table, and a control circuit to search the control table by using the retrieval information when the digital data from the reproduction section is written by the recording section, thereby to permit the writing of digital data recorded on the medium with the recording section when the retrieval information is not recorded on the control table, and to prohibit the writing of digital data recorded on the medium with the recording section when the retrieval information is already recorded on the control table, and also to prevent the mistaken duplicate copying of the digital data with the recording section.
Abstract: An optical waveguide having a optical waveguide path capable of securing a high light propagation characteristic regardless of the type of a supporting base, provided with a multilayer circuit board, an optical waveguide path arranged on the multilayer circuit board, a light receiving element, IC chips, and a light emitting element, the optical waveguide path formed on a transparent substrate excellent in flatness and transferred to the multilayer circuit board. The light propagation loss becomes small, and a signal to be transmitted at a high speed being transmitted as a light signal and a signal which can be transmitted at a relatively low speed being transmitted as an electrical signal, whereby the signal propagation delay which becomes the problem when a signal is transmitted by only electrical wiring is overcome, and the influence of electromagnetic noise becomes small.
Abstract: A collation processing apparatus includes user identification information memory means for storing user identification information which identifies a user, collation information input means for inputting collation information, collating means for carrying out collation processing on the basis of the collation information input by the collation information input means, user identification information reading means for reading out predetermined user identification information from the user identification information memory means on the basis of a collation result by the collating means, and output means for outputting, to external equipment, user identification information which has been read out by the user identification information reading means, thereby making it possible to specify a user. By setting a communication address serving as user identification information in the external equipment by address setting means, data communication in which the user is specified can be carried out.

Abstract: An information recording processing apparatus includes a modulating portion operable to modulate write data on an information recording medium and to create code data thereby; and a DC level calculating portion operable to calculate a DC level corresponding to a given run length based on a coefficient defined in accordance with the run length of a component bit of the code data, wherein DC-controlled code data is created or selected based on a DC level addition result based on the DC level corresponding to the given run length, and the created or selected data is defined as write data onto the information recording medium.
Abstract: An optical recording medium capable of suppressing film thickness irregularity of interlayer between a plurality of optical recording layers and effects of warps of a transfer substrate and arising of dusts and burrs problems, etc. and a method of producing the optical recording medium are provided. An optical recording medium has a structure wherein at least two optical recording layers (11, 13) stacked via an interlayer 12 and a light transmitting layer 14 provided on the optical recording layer are provided at least one surface of a medium substrate 10, for performing recording and reproducing by irradiating a light to the optical recording layers (11, 13) through the light transmitting layer 14, and the interlayer includes at least one layer of ultraviolet curing resin film made to be a film in advance and is a film formed with an uneven shape corresponding to a recording pit or an uneven shape (12p) to be a guide groove on its surface and cured.
Abstract: In executing a variety of processing operations for contents data, such as reproducing the contents data, the time until booting the application to enable the operations is shortened. A database file for management of contents data is stored in a hard disc drive and the data for hard disc contents controller (hdcc) processing, formulated on the basis of the database (a data image of the file for hdcc processing) is then saved. Using this data for hdcc processing, the application executes the required processing for the contents data. If, depending on the results of the processing by the application, the registration processing for the database becomes needed, the registration processing for the data for hdcc processing is necessarily executed. By so doing, the data for hdcc processing is kept synchronized with the database file at all times.
Abstract: A function name, a variable name, a comment sentence, or the like included in a script includes redundancy and affects transmitting efficiency. By replacing the function name or variable name consisting of a relatively long character string with a shorter character string (for example, with one alphabetic character), the data size of the script is reduced. By further deleting comment sentences in the script, data size is also reduced.
Abstract: Crystalline superfine particles capable of emitting light depending upon a time-rate-of-change of a stress and controlled in grain size in the range from 5 nm to 100 nm are complexed with another material such as resin. The crystalline superfine particles are manufactured by using aggregates of molecules, i.e. inverted micelles, which orient hydrophilic groups of surfactant molecules inward and hydrophobic groups outward in a nonpolar solvent and which contain metal ions of a metal for forming the crystalline superfine particles dissolved in water inside the inverted micelles. Alternatively, they are manufactured by using inverted micelles enveloping precursor superfine particles, in which precursor superfine particles are enveloped in water inside the inverted micelles. The crystalline superfine particles are excellent in dispersibility in another material to be complexed, enhanced in emission efficiency and usable to make a transparent stress emission material.
Abstract: A stable system is provided wherein the influence of disturbance or the like can be reduced. First error correcting code units and second error correcting code units are used, and thereby a wider range of random errors and burst errors are made correctable to avoid retry operation. Thus, stable data reproduction is carried out without degrading transfer rate. Further, the constitution of error correcting blocks is set so that when a head is moved to some track during seek operation, a sector having the second error correcting code recorded therein is the first sector to be read.
