  • Publication number: 20140029688
Abstract: For example in case of an OFDM multicarrier transmission system the transmission characteristics of subcarriers of a multicarrier transmission system using a plurality of antenna elements (3, 3?) can be adjusted. Particularly the power and the phase of the subcarriers can be adapted. To this object the subcarrier frequency channel (2, 2?) characteristics of the multicarrier transmission are detected (11, 11?) at the side of the transmitter (3). The power of each subcarrier is then distributed by a weighting unit (14, 14?). The subcarriers can be further pre-equalized (1, 1?) by dividing the subcarrier signal respectively by the sum of the squared magnitude of the frequency channel characteristics of all subcarrier signals or a frequency characteristic of the selected antenna element (3, 3?).

  • Publication number: 20140029698
Abstract: A transmitting apparatus transmits signals in a digital telecommunication system and a synchronising method is used for synchronizing such signals at a receiving apparatus. The transmitting apparatus prepares for transmission of a reference symbol having at least two repetition patterns, whereby one of the at least two repetition patterns is phase-shifted in relation to the other repetition pattern, and a synchronizing mechanism in the digital telecommunication system uses the reference symbol once received for synchronization. The synchronizing mechanism uses a cross-correlation mechanism to cross-correlate at least one of the two repetition patterns within a correlation window having a predetermined length.

  • Publication number: 20140016715
Abstract: A transmitting device, a receiving device, and a communication method for transmitting and receiving data modulated on frequency subcarriers of an OFDM communication system. An OFDM burst includes a preamble part and payload data part, whereby the preamble includes a section of pilot symbols mapped onto every n-th frequency subcarrier and signaling data mapped onto the frequency subcarriers between the frequency subcarriers with the pilot symbols. A first channel estimation on the basis of the received pilot symbols is performed, the result of which is used to reconstruct the entire section of the received preamble as a training pattern for an accurate channel estimation, which is used for a channel equalization of the received payload part.

  • Patent number: 8625418
Abstract: A system and method that improve service and device discovery in a UPnP-based wireless communication network and avoids unnecessary broadcast messages on a MAC sublayer of a DLC layer caused by UPnP multicast messages on an IP layer by intercepting UPnP multicast messages in a network protocol stack below the IP layer. A module intercepts multicast UDP packets destined to a UPnP IP multicast address and port, the multicast UDP packets containing UPnP packets as payload. The module executes DLC/MAC-based service discovery functions to perform wireless network-specific device discovery and to find UPnP-enabled devices in the wireless communication network. Once a wireless network device discovery has returned nodes that fulfill criteria given in the search, the module uses unicast DLC/MAC messages to send UPnP packets to only those nodes that are UPnP-enabled and whose device type matches the respective UPnP device type sought.

  • Patent number: 8582417
Abstract: A transmitting device for transmitting data and pilot symbols in an OFDM transmission system having transmission antennas. The device includes symbol generating means for generating data and pilot symbols, means for transmitting the data and pilot symbols using subcarriers of the OFDM system. The symbol generating means generates a first and second type pilot symbol, the second having an inverted value of the first so that a first pilot symbol pattern to be transmitted by using one of said plurality of transmission antennas has a different pattern in the frequency and time dimension from a second pilot symbol pattern to be transmitted by using another transmission antenna. First and second pilot symbols are comprised in respective first and second pilot symbol patterns, where at least some of the first and second pilot symbols have the same time allocation and being alternately identical and inverted to each other.

  • Patent number: 8539082
Abstract: In an ad-hoc established device network, a profile based handover of the network control functionality is performed whenever a new device requests association with the network and the central controller does not support the profile of the new device. A database is searched for a controller-capable device that supports both the profiles of the network devices and the profile of the new device. The former central controller passes the control functionality to the controller-capable device, which becomes the new central controller. Thus it is possible to associate the new device with the net work. The invention allows to integrate devices supporting different profiles into a common network.
