Abstract: Provided is an electronic apparatus that acquires an ambient temperature of the electronic apparatus and operates a cooling device to cool a component that generates heat during an operation. When the ambient temperature is lower than a predetermined reference temperature, the electronic apparatus exercises control to increase an output of the cooling device to a value higher than that obtained when the ambient temperature is equal to or higher than the reference temperature.

Abstract: A captured image acquisition unit acquires an image obtained by capturing a first device that includes a plurality of markers and a second device that includes a plurality of markers. An estimation processing unit first derives position information and posture information of the first device on the basis of marker image coordinates in the captured image and then derives position information and posture information of the second device on the basis of remaining maker image coordinates excluding marker image coordinates of the first device.

Abstract: Techniques are described for presenting selectable tiles on a user interface. In an example, the techniques include providing a graphical user interface, including an immediate selection area and a full selection area, for user interface (UI) elements, some being selectable to launch or resume a corresponding computer application. The techniques also include determining a library of computer applications that a user executed or obtained. The techniques also include selecting a first subset of the library of computer applications a number of items in the first subset being limited. The techniques also include rendering UI elements of the first subset on the graphical user interface in the immediate selection area. The techniques also include identifying a second subset of items from the library. The techniques also include displaying UI elements of the library in the full selection area of the graphical user interface.

Abstract: An event driven sensor (EDS) is used for simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) and in particular is used in conjunction with a constellation of light emitting diodes (LED) to simultaneously localize all LEDs and track EDS pose in space. The EDS may be stationary or moveable and can track moveable LED constellations as rigid bodies. Each individual LED is distinguished at a high rate using minimal computational resources (no image processing). Thus, instead of a camera and image processing, rapidly pulsing LEDs detected by the EDS are used for feature points such that EDS events are related to only one LED at a time.

Abstract: Techniques for better information sharing and control switching in a graphical user interface (GUI) are described. In an example, a computer system determines a user context indicating a likely user interest in applications. Upon a user request for a menu, windows are added to a dynamic area of the menu based on the user context and correspond to the applications. The menu is presented in the GUI and each window be shown in a glanced state to provide quick information about the corresponding application. When the user focus shifts to a window, that window is presented in a focused state to also provide a selectable action that can be performed. Upon a user selection of the window, the window is presented in a selected state to further provide additional performable actions. The window can be pinned to the GUI and user control can automatically switch to another application.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus, comprising: an input unit configured to receive one or more images of a face of a user and one or more images of a face of a virtual avatar; a determining unit configured to determine, based on one or more of the images of the face of the user and one or more of the images of the face of the virtual avatar, a match score indicating a degree of resemblance between the face of the user and the face of the virtual avatar; an evaluation unit configured to evaluate whether the determined match score meets or exceeds a first threshold match score; and an output unit configured to output, for display, a virtual element associated with the virtual avatar that is responsive to whether the determined match score meets or exceeds the first threshold match score.

Abstract: Pulsed light emitted from a light emitter of a TOF sensor at an intensity is divided into light that is reflected by an object having transmissivity and reaches a light receiver at an intensity and light that passes through the object and reaches an object at an intensity. The latter is reflected by the object at an intensity, partly passing through the object to reach the light receiver at an intensity. A local maximum point is detected in a change in a degree of photons observed by the light receiver, to acquire both distances to the object and the object.

Abstract: A content rendering and display system operable to display content to a viewer, the system comprising a rendering unit operable to render an image having a first resolution in a first render pass, and to generate supplementary information in additional render passes, wherein the rendered image and the supplementary information are stored in a multi-layer image structure, an upsampling unit operable to perform an upsampling process on the rendered image so as to generate an image having a portion at a second resolution higher than the first resolution, wherein the upsampling process comprises a morphological antialiasing process that uses the supplementary information as an input, and a display device operable to display the upsampled image, wherein the supplementary information comprises edge information for the rendered image.

Abstract: According to a certain aspect of the present invention, a control device for a robot is provided. The control device includes a processor configured to implement: a function of obtaining a signal indicating a detected value of a sensor detecting a state quantity of the robot; and a function of, in converting the detected value to an estimated value of the state quantity according to a conversion function obtained by calibration of the sensor, applying an offset value compensating for a difference between the estimated value and the actual state quantity in a critical situation in operation of the robot.

Abstract: In a method and system for viewer interaction with streaming media, a scene from a media presentation is displayed with a broadcasting device that includes an operating system level broadcaster interface overlay. The overlay generates an image frame from the scene of the media presentation. The image frame is sent to a viewer device. Viewer interaction parameters are received from a viewing device and a viewer interaction is displayed over a subsequent scene of the media presentation with the broadcaster interface overlay. On a viewing device an image frame of the media presentation is received from the broadcasting device. An operating system level viewer interface overlay is generated over the image frame and the image frame of the media presentation is displayed. Viewer interaction parameters are generated from a viewer interaction with the operating system level viewer interface overlay and sent to the broadcasting device.

Abstract: A hearing aid that includes a microphone, a signal processor, and a speaker transmits a signal to a computer. The signal transmitted to the computer can be the input to the microphone (before processing) or the output to the speaker (after processing). This enables the capturing of a HRTF that does not or that does include the enhancements of the hearing aids.

A Context Switching Direct Memory Access (CSDMA) engine detects a switching timing of an application to be executed in the processing section. Abstract: A wake-up word for a digital assistant may be specified by a user to trigger the digital assistant to respond to the wake-up word, with the user providing one or more initial pronunciations of the wake-up word. The wake-up word may be unique, or at least not determined beforehand by a device manufacturer or developer of the digital assistant. The initial pronunciation(s) of the keyword may then be augmented with other potential pronunciations of the wake-up word that might be provided in the future, and those other potential pronunciations may then be pruned down to a threshold number of other potential pronunciations. One or more recordings of the initial pronunciation(s) of the wake-up may then be used to train a phoneme recognizer model to better recognize future instances of the wake-up word being spoken by the user or another person using the initial pronunciation or other potential pronunciations.
