Abstract: The subject disclosure relates to methods for making user activity recommendations. In some aspects, a process of the technology can include operations for receiving a free-to-play indication, the free-to-play indication specifying availability of a user associated with a media system, retrieving, via the network interface, peer information indicating an availability of one or more online peers of the user, and retrieving, via the network interface, activity information indicating one or more activities available to the user, and at least one of the online peers. In some aspects method can further include operations for providing an activity recommendation to the user based on the peer information and the activity information, wherein the activity recommendation includes a suggestion of at least one activity that can be conducted by the user with the media system. Systems and computer-readable media are also provided.

Abstract: A modular electronic apparatus includes an electric box, an insert, and optionally one or more electric modules. The insert is configured to be inserted at least partially into an internal space of the electric box and connect to electric wires of a building. The insert is further configured to receive the electric modules such that they can be powered from the electric wires without directly connecting to them. The electric modules can engage with the insert and be easily replaceable without the need to reconnect the electric wires. Each of the electric modules can be one of the following: a programmable electric socket (“smart” socket), traditional electric socket, programmable electric switch (“smart” switch), traditional electric switch, dimmer, touch screen panel, speaker, personal computer, television device, lighting device, audio player, multimedia device, network hub, a router, and the like.

Abstract: A system includes at least one server that is configured to provide a multi-client network service to a plurality of existing users. When the server receives requests to join the multi-client network service from new users, the server may issue timestamps to each new user and obtain load metric based on the requests or timestamps. The server can repeatedly compare the load metric to a threshold load value. When it is determined that the load metric does not meet or is below the threshold load value, the server enables joining the multi-client network service by the plurality of new users. Otherwise, when it is determined that the load metric meets or is above the threshold load value, the server causes delivery of a wait message to the new users and keeps them in a wait mode for a predetermined period or until the load metric changes.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for monitoring activity of a device. The method includes associating one or more monitoring devices with an electronic device. Rules that have been established to define acceptable content that can be accessed by the electronic device are accessed. Requested content, which is requested by the electronic device, is identified. The requested content is compared to the established rules. An alert condition is generated when the requested content violates the established rules. An alert signal is provided to the one or more monitoring devices based on the alert condition.

Abstract: Systems and methods for real-time incorporation of user-produced content into a broadcast media stream are provided. A media title may be streamed to a producer computing device over a communication network. The producer computing device is associated with a channel for distributing the user-produced content in conjunction with the media title. Produced content may be captured from the producer computing device as the streamed media title is played on the producer computing device. Such captured produced content may be designated for the channel. The media title and the produced content may then be broadcast in real-time over the communication network to one or more subscriber devices subscribed to the channel. The media title and the produced content may be synchronized within the broadcast to reflect when the produced content was captured in relation to the media title as the media title was played on the producer computing device.

A trophy trigger is detected during emulation of the game by comparing a current program counter value to a predetermined value and comparing a stored instruction in an instruction storage location to a predetermined instruction when the current program counter value matches the predetermined counter value. The one or more trophies are assigned to a user account that is associated with the user when the current program counter value matches the predetermined value and the instruction in the instruction storage location matches the predetermined instruction.

Abstract: In one aspect, a prism is used to separate white light into individual color components, which are used to illuminate an object in sequence. This can be effected by rotating the prism. Reflections from the object are captured by a high resolution black and white camera. A frequency detector is used to also receive the individual colors that illuminate the object so that the high-resolution pixels from the black and white camera can be correlated, for each captured value, to the specific color reflected from the object that created the pixel. In this way, the color spectrum of the object can be measured with high precision. Other examples that use stationary prisms also are disclosed. Examples are disclosed in which the prism(s) receive white light from the object and spread it in color components onto the imager.

Abstract: A graphics processing unit (GPU) is configured to receive metadata specifying an active sample configuration for a particular region of a display device among a plurality of regions of the display device and receive pixel data for one or more pixels in the particular region. The pixel data specifies the same number of color samples for each pixel. For each pixel in the particular region, the GPU invokes a pixel shader only for color samples specified to be active samples by the configuration.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for identifying content using one or more Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) devices by accessing a user's account using a secondary device and selecting content provided by a service provider. The service provider sends an identifier that specifies the selected content to a first IPTV device that will display content. The selected content is added to a user's content list in the user's account; and played on the first IPTV device. During the time of playback on the first IPTV device, the user is able to browse content using the secondary device or another IPTV device. Thus, the user is able to browse and search for additional content without disturbing the display of the selected content.
