  • Patent number: 7852949
Abstract: A communication system is provided which implements a method for up-converting a baseband signal to a given number of frequency bands that together define a signal transmission channel. A sequential order is defined in which the frequency bands are to be used for up-converting the baseband signal, and up-converting the baseband signal to one frequency band after the other in the defined sequential order such that the spectral distance between two frequency bands is equal or higher for the frequency bands being direct neighbors in the defined sequential order than being direct neighbors in the spectral order.

  • Publication number: 20090084162
Abstract: The application relates to a chemical sensor device comprising a substrate (1), a sensor medium (3) formed on the substrate, the sensor medium comprising one-dimensional nanoparticles, wherein the one-dimensional nanoparticles essentially consist of a semiconducting AxBy compound, e.g. V2O5 and detection means (2) for detecting a change of a physical property of the sensor medium e.g. conductivity. The porosity of the sensor medium supports a fast access of the analyte to the sensing material and therefore a fast response of the sensor. The selectivity and sensitivity of the sensor can be tailored by doping the one-dimensional nanoscale material with different dopants or by varying the dopant concentration. Sensitivity of the sensor device to an analyte, preferably an amine, can be increased by increasing relative humidity of the sample to at least 5%.

  • Patent number: 7312914
Abstract: Between each transparent pixel electrode driven by TFT as a drive device and a common electrode, a polymer layer located in contact with the transparent pixel electrode and electrically active to change in color by electrochemical oxidization or reduction and a polymeric solid electrolytic layer located in contact with the polymer layer and containing a coloring agent are interposed. Since electrochemical oxidization or reduction brings about a color change, the contrast and the black concentration can be enhanced, and bronzing after long-time use does not occur.

  • Patent number: 7293101
Abstract: Broadcast based information systems like Teletext use a unidirectional communication scheme in order to get access to information. This means that requests for data objects are not transmitted from a client to a server. Instead the receiver part of the client has to listen for the requested object on the broadcast medium and copy it to the local storage when it goes by. The access time from the receiver point of view is defined as the difference between the reception point in time of the object and the point in time when the request was made. Nowadays realized broadcast based information systems are not able to determine precisely when a requested object will be available. The present invention uses a repetition distance which defines an additional parameter which has to be transmitted with each broadcast data object at the transmitter side. The receiver can use this information to determine the precise repetition point in time of a requested object.

  • Publication number: 20060246482
Abstract: The present invention is related to the linker molecules comprising one or more nucleic acid binding group and one or more nanoparticle binding group which are connected covalently by a spacer group. The problem underlying the present invention is to provide methods for the controlled and selective metallisation of nucleic acids, the production of nanowires which may be used, e. g., in the formation of electronic networks and circuits allowing a high density arrangement, and the components of devices that may be incorporated in such networks and circuits. This problem is solved by a linker molecule which comprises one or more nucleic acid binding group(s) and one or more nanoparticle binding group(s) which are connected covalently by a spacer group. Such linkers can be used for the manufacture of nucleic acid/linker conjugates, nanoparticle/linker conjugates, and nanoparticle/linker/nucleic acid composites and further nanowires, electronic networks, electronic circuits and junctions comprising said nanowires.

  • Publication number: 20060109932
Abstract: For example in case of an OFDM multicarrier transmission system the transmission characteristics of subcarriers of a multicarrier transmission system using a plurality of antenna elements (3, 3?) can be adjusted. Particularly the power and the phase of the subcarriers can be adapted. To this object the subcarrier frequency channel (2, 2?) characteristics of the multicarrier transmission are detected (11, 11?) at the side of the transmitter (3). The power of each subcarrier is then distributed by a weighting unit (14, 14?). The subcarriers can be further pre-equalized (1, 1?) by dividing the subcarrier signal respectively by the sum of the squared magnitude of the frequency channel characteristics of all subcarrier signals or a frequency characteristic of the selected antenna element (3, 3?).
