  • Publication number: 20130018447
Abstract: A lead for an implantable cardiac prosthesis, with protection against the thermal effects of MRI fields by terminating the lead head (10) with an electrically insulating tubular outer housing (28) and an anchoring mechanism. The tubular housing (28) carries an electrically isolated thermally conductive solid part in the outer region of its distal end forming a heat sink. The heat sink thermally conductive material is for example titanium, associated with an electrically insulating coating such as a diamond deposition. The anchor may be a projecting helical anchoring screw (20), axially extending the tubular housing, which is an electrically conductive active screw on at least one end portion.

  • Publication number: 20130012046
Abstract: A connector for a multipolar lead having a substantially cylindrical cavity that contains a stack (200) of alternating annular electrical contact elements (210) and annular isolation elements (220). The isolation elements (220) comprise an annular rigid sleeve and an annular flexible seal disposed against an annular face in an interior region of the rigid sleeve. The flexible seal extends axially from one lateral side of the rigid sleeve to the other in the interior region of the rigid sleeve. The sleeve and the seal include are immobilized relatively to each other in the axial direction by use of mating surface profiles respectively defined on an inner annular side of the sleeve and on an outer annular side of the flexible seal. In addition, each lateral side of the flexible seal is projecting with respect to the corresponding lateral sides of the rigid sleeve.

  • Publication number: 20120330382
Abstract: A lead for an implantable cardiac prosthesis, having an integrated protection against the effects of magnetic resonance imaging (“MRI”) fields. A protection circuit (26), placed at the distal end of the lead comprises a resistive component (28) interposed between the electrode (E1, E2) and the distal end of the conductor (22, 24) associated with this electrode. A normally-open controlled active switch (34, 36), allows in its closed state to short-circuit the resistive component. A control stage. (32) is coupled to the conductors and detects the voltage of a stimulation pulse applied on the conductor(s), and selectively controls by this voltage the closing of the active switch for a duration at least equal to the duration of detected stimulation pulse.

  • Publication number: 20120322318
Abstract: An electrical connection plug for a multipolar lead of an active implantable medical device. This plug has a cylindrical outer surface including a plurality of annular electrical contact zones axially separated and formed of conductive cylindrical rings (101, 102, 103), the electrical contact zones being alternatively separated by a plurality of intercalary insulating cylindrical zones. The plug includes an insulating monobloc core (200) of a generally cylindrical shape having a plurality of cylindrical side surfaces (213a) for coaxial centering, a conductive ring being placed on at least one centering side surface. The central core also includes housings for receiving conductive pods (240) on which connection wires (21, 22) are welded, a pod being welded to a conductive ring.

  • Publication number: 20120283807
Abstract: An energy harvester device for an autonomous intracorporeal leadless capsule having an outside surface (42) on the body (40) of the capsule, that is deformable under the effect of pressure variations in the environment surrounding the capsule. A first capacitor electrode coupled to the deformable surface and a mechanical damping element (68) form a high-pass filter with respect to the pressure variations, and a second capacitor electrode (54) is mounted on a support (56) connected to the body. The deformable surface movement produces a correlative modification of the spacing between the two electrodes with a correlative variation of the capacity of said capacitor. The capacitor is preloaded when its capacity is maximum, it is unloaded by transferring its energy into a storage circuit when this capacity decreases under the effect of a reduction in the opposing surfaces and/or of an increase of the dielectric gap.

  • Publication number: 20120263218
Abstract: A method for quantification of the desynchronization between the clocks of two medical devices communicating wirelessly, for example, by HBC signals. The devices are separately clocked by slow clocks (CLK1/32k, CLK2/32k) and include selectively activated fast clocks (CLK1/10M, CLK2/10M). The method comprises: a) on a predetermined transition (T1) of a slow clock, transmission by one device of a synchronization query signal (SYNC) to the other device, b) counting of the pulses of the activated fast clock to detect a predetermined transition (T3) of the first slow clock, then c) transmitting from the other device to the first device a response signal (D1) and d) upon reception of the response signal, computing a temporal shift (OFFSET) according to the result (D1, D2) of the counting of the pulses of the fast clock. Two fast clocks, one on each device, also can be used.
