Abstract: A drain valve used on an at least partially dielectric container has a valve housing made of electrically nonconductive plastic, fixed to the container, and forming a passage opening into the container so that fluent contents of the container can flow out of the container through the passage. A valve body formed at least partially of an electrically conductive material is movable in the passage between a closed position blocking flow through the passage and an open position permitting flow through the passage. An actuating element outside the housing is connected to the body for shifting same between its positions.

Abstract: A metal pallet for securing the container that has pallet feet arranged in the corner areas. The metal pallet and the pallet feet are realized in the form of one single structural unit. The pallet feet are connected with each other via a stiffening frame. Furthermore, a stiffening traverse member is arranged on the bottom of the metal pallet and connected with the bottom of the metal pallet and lateral support feet in a form- and force-locked manner.

Abstract: A storage/transport container has a rigid and floor-forming pallet having a generally rectangular outer edge having four sides, an annular and erect outer wall in the form of a gridwork of metal rods defining a plurality of generally flat side panels extending upward from the sides of the edges, meeting at corners, and each formed of a set of horizontal metal rods and a set of vertical metal rods, and an inner vessel composed of flexible plastic material enclosed by the outer wall and supported on the pallet. The gridworks are attached to the pallet generally at the respective sides thereof.

Abstract: A valve has a molded plastic valve housing defining an inlet port, an outlet port, and a chamber between the ports. The housing also has a collar defining an opening into the chamber and carrying a molded plastic cap formed with a central hole. A molded plastic valve body is rotatable about a body axis between open and closed positions in the chamber and is unitarily formed with a throughgoing passage aligned with the ports only in the open position, a stem extending along the body axis through the hole of the cap, axially oppositely open mass-reducing pockets, and an annular rim captured between the cap and the collar.

Abstract: A venting container prevents the incursion of contaminants and water during the breathing of the contents and has a central body received in a collar in the top wall of the container and adapted to accommodate a filter element. The central body is secured to a cover which is provided with break-away means signalling improper opening of the container and with a protective cap turned toward the interior thereof.

Abstract: A storage/transport container has an annular and erect outer wall in the form of a gridwork of metal rods having a lower edge and provided at the edge with an annular metal stiffening rod. A wooden floor-forming pallet downwardly closes the wall, forms with the wall an outer vessel, and has a ground-engaging lower surface, an opposite and horizontal upper surface, and a pair of vertical and generally parallel and longitudinally extending side edges. A metallic brace bar transversely bridges the pallet between its side edges, lies on the upper surface of the pallet, forms at each side edge a downwardly open notch engaging downwardly over the stiffening rod and has at each edge a downwardly extending tab formed outside the respective seat with a horizontally throughgoing hole. Respective metallic clips engage through the holes and under the stiffening rod and screws engaged vertically through the brace bar and clips into the pallet secure same together.

Abstract: A molded synthetic-resin container having a wall with an outer surface has a layer of conductive particles imbedded in at least a portion of the wall at the outer surface thereof. This layer is made according to the invention, after blow-molding of the container, by heating and thereby disrupting a surface region of the container, then applying a conductive powder to the disrupted surface region, and finally heating the powder on the disrupted surface region and sintering it into the disrupted surface region.

Abstract: A baffle assembly for a catalytic converter through which a fluid flows axially has a stack of baffle plates each formed with a row of axially open-ended bumps having tops and, adjacent to the bump row, with a row of axially open-ended grooves having bottoms and substantially narrower than the bumps. Each bump is axially aligned with a respective groove of the respective plate. A plurality of flat spacer strips are sandwiched between the tops and bottoms of the bumps and grooves of adjacent baffle plates. The bumps and grooves form substantially parallel axially throughgoing passages for the fluid.

Abstract: A bulk liquid container including a pallet defining an annular outer peripheral portion defining an upwardly facing annular seat and a central platform portion within the outer peripheral portion; an annular cage including an annular sidewall structure and an annular lower edge positioned on the annular seat; and a bulk liquid bottle positioned in the sleeve with its sidewall structure juxtaposed to the sleeve sidewall structure and its bottom positioned on the platform portion. The pallet defines an upstanding rim extending around the annular seat and a plurality of circumferentially spaced channels opening inwardly of the annular seat and above the seat. A plurality of straps extend through openings in the rim and through an opening in the lower annular portion of the cage for passage into a respective channel.

Abstract: A transport and storage container has an annular and erect outer wall constituted as a grid of welded-together vertical and horizontal bars and having a lower edge provided with a lower-edge bar and an upper edge provided with an upper-edge bar, a normally horizontal and generally rectangular sheet-metal floor plate having an inwardly open C-section outer rim engaged over the lower-edge bar, and a flexible inner vessel enclosed by the outer wall and resting on the floor plate. The floor plate has four sides including two opposite sides formed with the C-section outer rim. In addition another of the sides is also formed with the C-section rim and a fourth side is free of the C-section rim and the fourth side of the floor plate is formed with outwardly projecting tabs that engage over the lower-edge bar.

Abstract: A container assembly for liquids and bulk solids has a bladder within a supporting container provided with a filling control element surrounding a folded constricting portion of the bladder. As filling continues, this element rises to liberate folded parts of the bladder forming the constricting strip portion and thereby insures a uniform application of the bladder to the interior surfaces of the supporting outer container.

Abstract: A ground cover preventing vegetation growth has a polyethylene or polyurethane ground contacting foil and an asphalt/styrene-butadiene-styrene protective and adhesive layer on the foil. The adhesive layer contains 15 to 25% by weight of a meal-fine mineral filler and is applied to the foil in an amount of 1,750 to 2,250 g/m.sup.2. A stone granulate, e.g. of gravel, with a particle size of 2 to 5 millimeters is pressed into the asphalt/SBS layer in an amount of 3,500 to 5,000 g/m.sup.2.

Abstract: A container assembly has a load-supporting outer container and a collapsible sack inner container with a hose spigot received in an externally threaded outer spigot of the outer container. A valve is attached to the outer spigot to enable emptying of the inner container which is not connected to the upper wall or filling aperture of the outer container during transport and storage to prevent tearing of the inner container or discharge of the containers of the inner container into the outer container by the transport and storage stresses.

Abstract: A transport and storage container for flowable materials comprises an annular and erect outer wall member in the form of a gridwork of horizontal rods and vertical bars and having a lower edge, a generally planar floor member having an outer edge at the lower edge of the wall member and formed as a gridwork of horizontal bars not unitary with any of the bars of the wall member, and an inner vessel composed of a plastic material enclosed by the outer support member and supported on the bottom member. The bars of the planar floor member are separate from and not unitary with the bars of the wall member and the rods of at least one of the members have L-shaped end extensions that extend past the respective edge and are joined to the rods of the other member by welds. The upper edge of the wall member is provided with an annular collar formed by a profiled steel element welded to the tops of the steel vertical rods.

Abstract: A transport and storage container for flowable materials has an annular and erect outer wall in the form of a gridwork of bars having a lower edge and provided at the edge with an annular stiffening bar and a pallet-like floor downwardly closing the wall, forming therewith an outer vessel, and provided with a plurality of wooden foot beams each having a ground-engaging lower surface, an upper surface, and a pair of ends. Respective steel plates on the upper surfaces of the foot beams each have bent-down ends overlying the respective beam ends. Fasteners such as screws or nails are engaged through the steel-plate ends into the respective beam ends. Integral connections are provided between each of the plates and the annular stiffening bar at the lower edge of the wall. An inner vessel composed of flexible plastic material is enclosed by the outer wall and supported on the floor.

Abstract: A large-volume storage and transport container has a flexible wall inner vessel within an outer vessel of gridwork. The bottom of this outer vessel is likewise formed as a gridwork and stabilized by welding with additional bars if necessary. Pallet feet or other palletizing elements can be formed on the additional bars, welded to the bottom or otherwise attached thereto.

Abstract: A storage and transport container for a fluent material has a stiff outer vessel having an upright side wall formed of a grid of steel bars and a floor. The floor is inclined with respect to the horizontal downward to a predetermined low point at the side wall. An elastically flexible liner in the vessel has a side and a base respectively generally corresponding to the side wall and floor of the vessel and is provided at the low point with a drain fitting. The base is inclined when the liner is only partially filled with the fluent material to the horizontal to the low point at an angle substantially greater than that between the vessel floor and the horizontal but forms the same angle and lying on the floor when fully filled with the fluent material.

Abstract: A transport and storage container for flowable materials has an outer enclosure formed with a gridwork of vertical and horizontal bars which surround a plastic inner vessel. A pallet is formed by a similar gridwork and the supporting feet are at least in part formed by downwardly bent portions of the grid bars of the bent pallet which are connected to extensions of the vertical bars of the outer enclosure, e.g. by welding. The supporting foot may be bent from these portions or may be constituted by an angle member welded thereto and a reinforcing plate or sheet can be welded to the downwardly bent portions for greater stability.

Abstract: A blow molded barrel having its peripheral top and bottom walls formed unitarily from thermoplastic synthetic resin has at least a lifting and transport ring formed at its upper edge at the junction of the top wall and the peripheral wall and welded to the barrel body. The ring has a trapezoidal head which is at least limitedly elastic and is connected to the weld flange by an intermediate region which is also at least limitedly elastic to reduce the transmission of shock and thereby improve the life of the well junction between the ring and the barrel body.
