Abstract: With a roller head (10) of a resistance seam welding machine, which roller head has a stator (12) and a rotor (14), the bearing outer housing (18, 18?) is cooled by means of channels (2, 2?) provided in its interior. This increases the life of the roller head.
Abstract: In case of manufacturing tear-off lids (28) out of lid rings (20?) with a tear-off foil (25) sealed on them and with a tear-off tab (29) the tear-off tab is fixed in a folded back position onto the tear-off foil of the lid by an adhesive patch (30). For this, the adhesive patch is applied onto the foil section in such a way that individual adhesive patches are separated out of an adhesive tape with a carrier tape and an adhesive material arranged thereon by a separating means. Such an adhesive patch is arranged on the foil section of each lid in a position where the folded back tear-off tab comes to lie. By this, a fixing of the tear-off tab can be reached in an economical and secure manner.

Abstract: The invention relates to a processing device for covers (20), wherein processing stations are embodied as individual processing stations (47) provided with, respectively, one tool for one cover. Several of said stations work in parallel for the simultaneous processing of several covers. If need be, stations can also be used wherein several tools form groups which are functionally separate from each other. As a result, the processing precision and production speed of the objects can be increased.
Abstract: During the bending of sheet metal sections (1, 2) for forming can bodies by means of a bending machine, the sheet metal characteristics of the individual sheets are measured, e.g. the thickness and/or the strength of the sheets. The measured value is used to control the bending machine (4). This permits a substantially constant bending result to be achieved, even with varying sheet metal characteristics.
Abstract: For the determination of the welding current to be used for the resistance welding of the overlap seam of container bodies, welding with a test body is carried out with a changing strength of welding current which in the test body produces a varying welding of the seam. The current strength varies from welding of this seam with a too high temperature to welding with a too low temperature. Along with this the welding current strength used in the welding is determined so that it is further determined at which point of the seam the welding has been accomplished and with what strength of welding current. By means of a mechanical and/or optical investigation of the welded seam it can then be easily determined where the seam has been correctly welded for the series production of container bodies from the same sheet material as the test bodies. When such a point or such a region of the seam is known the welding current used in the test welding can be taken as the welding current for serial production.
