Abstract: Mastitis in bovine udders is treated and controlled by dipping the teats into a composition consisting essentially of a semi-drying oil and a fatty acid ester and allowing the teat to dry to form a water repellent film on the teat skin and across the teat orifice. The composition may also contain a bactericide, a healing agent, a hydration agent and a dye.
