Patents Assigned to Southern Systems, Inc.
  • Patent number: 5014843
Abstract: A fixture for a conveyor that is cam operated. The fixture is mounted on a carrier and has at least one movably mounted product support arm for supporting the product as the fixture is moved past a work station for work, such as paint spraying, to be performed on the product. A carriage which has a track mounted thereon is movable by an air cylinder to move the track into the path of engagement with a cam operably coupled to the product support arm for the positioning of the cam support arm.

  • Patent number: 4924777
Abstract: A conveyor system in which carriers are normally towed along the center line by pushers on a power chain that engage center tow pins along the center line of the carriers but which are disengaged from the center tow pins prior to a turn to the right or left to provide a power released carrier. Then the pushers subsequently engage side tow pins along the side of the carrier towards which the turn is to be made to move the carrier around the turn. A positioning take-up device for the power chain is provided to vary the spacing between the carriers by varying the point of engagement of the pushers with the side tow pins.

  • Patent number: 4566339
Abstract: A system for monitoring and recording the tensile stresses experienced by a moving conveyor chain while in use and under load. The system uses strain gauge, signal conditioning and radio technologies to produce an audio signal remote from the actual conveyor and proportional to the tensile stress on the chain.

  • Patent number: 4389944
Abstract: A mechanism for use with a power-and-free type conveyor to allow a trolley system to be pushed across a transfer zone or the like. The trolley system is composed of at least a leading trolley and a trailing trolley, and perhaps an intermediate trolley. The leading trolley is pushed across the transfer zone by virtue of the mechanism of the trailing, or intermediate, trolley. The mechanism includes a dog member attached to the trailing (or intermediate) trolley, a first drive member for moving the dog member to a first position in which it will be engaged by a pusher member and pushed across a transfer zone, and a second drive member for moving the dog member to a second position out-of-engagement with the pusher member. The mechanism is constructed so that the dog member will stay in either of the first or second positions until it is positively moved to the other position by either the first or second drive member.
