Abstract: A mattress closing tape formed of a crochet-type warp knitted construction comprises a set of parallel warp yams knitted in a series of lengthwise-extending chain stitches, first and second base filling yams of a first color (or other visual indicia) inlaid widthwise in opposing relation to each other through the chain stitches of the warp yarns to form a base fabric layer predominantly of such color at one fabric face, and third and fourth sets of multiple pattern filling yarns of a differing color (or visual indicia) inlaid diagonally in opposing relation to one another beneath the underlaps of the warp yarns to form a diamond pattern layer predominantly of such differing color at the opposite fabric face.
Abstract: A handle for a mattress, box spring or other bedding structure is formed of an elongate textile web having a lengthwise-extending relatively stiffer main body and relatively softer lengthwise-extending cushioning edges along opposite sides of the main body. The main body preferably comprises two face-abutting layers of the textile web with the cushioning edges connecting the two layers at each opposite side of the main body. The textile web may be of a crochet-type warp-knitted fabric comprised of interknitted warp and filling yarns.
Abstract: An elastic band is fabricated with an integrated drawcord utilizing a crochet-type warp knitting machine by initially knitting a finished elastic band and, then, re-routing the finished band back through the knitting machine to a second knitting location at which fabric piercing needles are utilized to knit additional warp and filling yarns while a drawcord is simultaneously fed between the piercing needles to form a covering web over the drawcord defining a tunnel area between the covering web and the finished band in which the drawcord is captured.
Abstract: Multiple wale lapping stitch loop chains are knit of additional yarn and extend over at least a pair of adjacent wales along at least one selvage edge of the elastic tape to prevent ravelling of the edge of the tape. The knitted elastic tape also includes a plurality of stitch loop chains knit of stretchable yarn and forming adjacent wales extending longitudinally of the tape and successive courses extending from one side of the tape to the other. An elastomeric yarn is inlaid in and extends along selected ones of the plurality of stitch loop chains and filling yarn extends back and forth across the tape so that the tape is stretchable in the lengthwise direction but substantially unstretchable in the widthwise direction.
Abstract: A ribbon-like bandage fabric which is stretchable in the lengthwise direction but substantially unstretchable in the widthwise direction. The fabric includes a plurality of walewise parallel stitch loop chains knit of stretchable yarn, a pair of filling yarns extending back and forth across the fabric and being held in the courses of the stitch loop chains, and elastic yarns inlaid in and extending along selected ones of the parallel stitch loop chains. This knit bandage fabric is lighter weight than conventional woven bandage fabric but has substantially the same elastic characteristics and may be produced in a more economical manner.
