Abstract: A method for preparing 5-amino-2,3-dihydrophthalazine-1,4-dione salts with alkali metals of the formula II, pharmaceutical compositions including such salts, and their application in medicine. The sodium salt may be used for treatment of heart diseases, pancreas diseases and diabetes as well as optionally in combination with lithium salt for treatment of the nervous system diseases.
Abstract: The fusion protein, especially recombinant, comprising domain (a) which is a functional fragment of soluble hTRAIL protein sequence beginning with an amino acid at a position not lower than hTRAIL95 or a sequence having at least 70% homology thereto; and domain (b) which is a sequence of pro-apoptotic effector peptide, wherein the sequence of domain (b) is attached at C-terminus and/or N-terminus of domain (a). The fusion protein has anticancer activity. The nucleotide sequence coding the fusion protein, expression vector and host cell for the preparation of the fusion protein, and the use of the fusion protein for treating cancer diseases.

Abstract: A power driven tool for rotating a mechanical element. The tool includes a housing and motor. The motor has an output shaft. The shaft rotates relative to the housing. The tool also includes an impact drive axially fixed within the housing. The impact drive includes a base and an anvil shaft having an anvil. The impact drive includes annular hammers, each having opposite impact lands pivotally mounted on the base for movement between three positions, including a forward position in which the hammer is positioned so one impact land engages the anvil, a reverse position in which the hammer is positioned so another of the impact lands engages the anvil, and a disengaged position in which neither of the impact lands engages the anvil. Further, the tool includes a ratchet mechanism. The ratchet mechanism includes an output drive mounted for rotation relative to the housing for rotating a mechanical element.
Abstract: A one component isocyanate prepolymer mixture for formulating a polyurethane product in a single step process, with monomeric methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) content in the mixture not exceeding 3%, preferably less than 2%, more preferably less than 1% of the total weight. The mixture contains monofunctional alcohol, an isocyanate component or isocyanate mixture component, propellant, catalyst, stabiliser, and one or more polyols. The monofunctional alcohol constitutes ethylene glycol ethers or propylene glycol ethers. A method for formulating a one component polyurethane foam on the basis of the mixture is disclosed.

Abstract: An automation system is disclosed in which a system controller has access to the signals transmitted by each sensor device that is relevant to the environment being controlled. Each sensor device monitors a particular physical condition, senses changes in the condition being monitored, and reports states of the condition, which is made available to the system controller. Meanwhile, the system controller memorizes and maintains the states of various processing events, such as when a sensor device reported a particular state of the condition that the sensor monitors. By considering the information reported by the various and multiple sensor devices, as well as by accounting for the memorized states corresponding to the various events, the system controller is able to generate and continually update a representation of the state of the controlled environment. Having such context awareness enables the design and implementation of sophisticated reasoning logic and conditional logic.

Abstract: Recorded or synthesized speech segments of text-to-speech (TTS) systems may be compressed though the use of both time domain compression and perceptual compression techniques. The twice-compressed recording may be separated into speech segments corresponding to words or subword units for use in a TTS system. The compression rate of time domain compression, and the ratio of time domain compression to perceptual compression, may be modified for any speech segment. The compression amount or ratio may be determined based on linguistic or acoustic features of the word or subword unit that the speech segment represents. Differing compression amounts and ratios may be applied to portions of a single speech segment.
Abstract: A navigation system for use in a vehicle (402). The system includes an absolute position sensor, such as GPS, in addition to one or more additional sensors, such as a camera, laser scanner, or radar. The system further comprises a digital map or database that includes records for at least some of the vehicle's surrounding objects (400). These records can include relative positional attributes with respect to a reference axis (404). As the vehicle (402) moves, sensors sense the presence of at least some of these objects (400), and measure the vehicle's relative position to those objects. This information is used to determine the vehicle's instantaneous lateral offset (428) relative to the reference axis (404), and support features such as enhanced driving directions, collision avoidance, or automatic assisted driving. The system also allows new objects (408, 414) to be attributed using relative positioning, and thereby factored into the enhanced navigation features.
