Abstract: Calls are routed in a distributed mobile switching center environment in response to receiving a call to be routed from a first switching mode (310(1) to a second switching node (3101(2)). An inter-switch mute for the call from the first switching node to the second switching node is identified. The inter-switch route includes an intermediate switching node (305) having multiple media gateway (320). An intra-switch route within the intermediate switching node is selected from multiple possible intra-switch routes for use in establishing the inter-switch route. Each of the intra-switch routes includes one or more interconnections (330) between media gateways. The call is connected using the identified inter-switch route and the selected intra-switch route.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method and system for passing information required by a wireless procedure in a hybrid wireless network (300) before the procedure is invoked, the hybrid wireless network (300) having at least one radio access network (304, 306, 307) based on a first technology and a core network (302) based on a second technology. The hybrid network (300) implements a special mobile switching center (308) to be a “double agent” passing information between the mobile terminal (310, 320, 364) and entities in its core network (302). In the context of messaging, the message contents may be encoded, packaged, and decoded appropriately. The present disclosure does not introduce any changes to telecommunication standards such as the GSM and CDMA standards governing the messaging process.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes a system and method for handing off a mobile device from ananchor wireless media gateway (WMG) to a target WMG, where both WMGs are controlled by a single call server. In one example, the anchor WMG includes first and second termination points connecting the first WMG to the mobile device and another party, respectively. The method includes creating fourth and fifth termination points in the target WMG to provide an interface for the target WMG to communicate with the mobile device and the anchor WMG, respectively. A third termination point may be established in the anchor WMG, and the third and fifth termination points may link the first and second WMGs. A context may be created using the second and third termination points, and the third termination point may be made bi-directional.

Abstract: A method and system is provided for routing at least one message from one or more subscribers of a communications network in a network node, the network node having a plurality of processing cards (Pcards). First, at least one Pcard is designated to service messages from a predetermined set of subscribers. When receiving a message from a subscriber of the predetermined set, the Pcard that is designated for the subscriber is determined and the received message is routed to the determined Pcard.
