  • Patent number: 11377266
Abstract: A valve assembly for a dispensing container includes a closure body detachably coupled to a co-injected valve. The closure body includes a main closure body coupled to a closure cap via a flexible hinge. The co-injected valve includes a valve head and a valve frame. The valve head includes a valve head portion with multiple valve head slits, a sleeve portion, and a peripheral sealing flange. The valve frame is permanently coupled to the valve head and includes a radial ledge and a radial wall that support the peripheral sealing flange of the valve head. The co-injected valve is fabricated via a two-step injection molding process. The first step includes fabricating the valve frame from a first injection material, and the second step includes fabricating the valve member from a second injection material.

  • Patent number: 5901843
Abstract: A display package having one or more media items retained therein. The display package is convertible between a collapsed position which is used for shipment and storage of the media item, an open display position for displaying the media item on a generally flat surface, and a compact display position which allows the media item to be displayed in a number of positions, such as in receiving groove on a store shelf to operate as a shelf talker. The display package has a base having opposing halves each formed of a pair of spaced apart upper and lower panels which are hingedly connected together along their respective outer ends. The upper panels also hingedly connected together along their inner ends. Central portions of the inner ends of the upper panels are spaced part from each other to define therebetween an elongate slot. An upright body connected to the base selectively extends upwardly through the slot when in one of the display positions.

  • Patent number: 5756038
Abstract: A method of reshaping a hollow tube having a circumferential wall defining an inside and an outside of the tube and formed from at least one layer of a thermoformable plastic, with the outside of the wall having at least one decoration, which method includes the steps of juxtaposing one side of the tube with a forming element having a surface in the shape of a pattern, so that the pattern confronts the side of the tube; and heating the tube wall to an elevated forming temperature at which the plastic is capable of being thermoformed and applying a differential fluid pressure to the tube so that the prevailing pressure on the side of the tube opposite the forming element exceeds the pressure prevailing on the side with the forming element, so that the heated tube wall contacts the forming element surface pattern and is thereby formed into conformity with the shape of the pattern. Methods in which a mandrel is used as the forming element are described.

  • Patent number: 5474383
Abstract: A flexible, sealable container apparatus having a substantially pinch-bottomed configuration prior to expansion of the bag during cooking. The container apparatus includes substantially quadrilateral regions of adhesive. The shape and positioning of the quadrilateral regions, with diagonals substantially collinear to panel edges of the container apparatus, serves to articulate the container apparatus into a substantially rectangular-bottomed configuration during cooking, while improving the integrity of the bottom region seals against blowout and/or leakage.

  • Patent number: 5326576
Abstract: A container apparatus for use in filling, storing, shipping and cooking various types of food wherein the container apparatus facilitates and maintains the positioning of the food in a substantially restricted predetermined location within the apparatus. The container apparatus includes a bag having a front and back panel, a first and second gusseted side panel and an interior region. Bag panel attachment elements are positioned between a portion of the back panel means and an adjacent portion of the gusseted side panels preliminarily to filling, so as to maintain the back flaps of the gusseted side panels against the back panel during such filling, as well as during storing, shipping and cooking of the food. The bag panel attachment elements further serve to operably segregate and maintain the food in a predetermined portion of the interior region so that the food does not inadvertently migrate between the gussets and the back panel during filling.

  • Patent number: 5314252
Abstract: A sealable square bottom container apparatus comprising one or more plies of sheet material. The square bottom of the container apparatus includes a continuous ring of sealable adhesive to form a substantially sift-proof bottom panel after articulation and sealing of the bottom of the container apparatus. Such a continuous ring forms a positive seal towards preventing the inadvertent migration or seepage of articles from within said container apparatus, particularly articles such as oils, steam, fluids and fine powder materials--without the need for an additional patch, sealing pastes or preliminary welds applied to the bottom of the container apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5244682
Abstract: A cooking apparatus and process for cooking food therewithin, wherein the apparatus facilitates cooking of various types of food in cooking containers, in which at least minimal agitation of the food to be cooked is desired, and wherein the food, as well as the apparatus may be expandable during the cooking process. A food containment region is provided for acceptance of the food to be cooked prior to operably sealing the cooking container. Container positioning portions are operably associated with at least a section of the cooking container so as to temporarily maintain the cooking container in a vertically supported orientation after insertion of the apparatus within an oven.

  • Patent number: 5195645
Abstract: An end closure for a container having a substantially planar first lid portion including elements for engaging an upper rim of a container to be closed, a second substantially planar lid portion rotatably mounted to an upper surface of the first lid portion, the second lid portion having an opening defined therethrough, and an openable lid portion defined in the first lid portion. The openable lid portion includes a flexible hinge extending along a first edge thereof and a frangible coupling extending along the remaining edges thereof, whereby when a force is applied to the upper surface of said openable lid portion, the frangible coupling is broken to define a free edge of the openable lid portion and the openable lid can be pivoted about the hinge.

  • Patent number: 5169033
Abstract: A container-closure assembly comprises a container molded of relatively soft plastic and a closure cap molded of relatively hard plastic and having a top wall and a continuous side wall. Threads are formed on both the finish of the container and inward on the side wall of the cap. The threads on the cap comprise three threaded segments spaced about the inner circumference of the side wall. The segments include an inward upwardly sloping rib, the upper surface of which is formed with a plurality of wedge-shaped teeth. In use, the closure is screwed on to the top of the container finish and the teeth dig onto the underside of the threads on the finish causing the instantaneous elastic deformation of the plastic of the finish to anchor the cap against removal.

  • Patent number: 5109840
Abstract: The directional control valve housing in a squeeze bag resuscitator includes a duck-bill element which permits inhaling from the bag as the duck-bill opens, and spontaneous exhaling as the periphery of duck-bill is pushed away from its seat. An adjustable spring urges the periphery against its seat with force established by the PEEP setting. The housing is in two screwed-together parts and the PEEP setting is effected by screwing the parts inward or outward.

  • Patent number: 4984702
Abstract: This structure includes a resilient collar having a central boss with an opening which receives the discharge apparatus, such as a pump or valve. The collar fits over the flange of the container and has an outward protrusion in the form of fingers. A sleeve is sized to slide down over the side of the collar where it surrounds the flange and cams inwardly the protrusion to hold the collar on the container. The improvement relates to a re-entrant portion at the upper end of the sleeve which extends downward in an inner tube terminating at its lower end in a short inward annular flange which grips the sides of a central boss on the collar to keep the sleeve from being vertically displaced.

  • Patent number: 4984714
Abstract: In this assembly the spout attachment has at the top of its vertical wall a flat annular wiper flange having an upstanding sealing bead. The flange is clamped between the top of the mouth of the bottle and the undersurface of the closure so that the bead seals against the closure and no liner is necessary in the closure. To keep the attachment from uncontrolled rotation as the closure is screwed on and off, the vertical wall of the attachment is provided with a pair of horizontally aligned closely spaced lugs which straddle an inward protrusion in the mouth of the bottle.
