Patents Assigned to Spectral Diagnostics
  • Patent number: 5747274
Abstract: A diagnostic test, and a device for conducting the test, for assessing whether patient chest pain is cardiac in origin and for differentiating between unstable angina and myocardial infarction as a cause of patient chest pain is described. The diagnostic test comprises simultaneously detecting at least three selected cardiac markers with the use of at least three different monoclonal or polyclonal antibody pairs, each member of which is complementary to a different marker, which is released by heart muscle at varying stages after the onset of chest pain and is indicative of the cause of the chest pain.

  • Patent number: 5710008
Abstract: This invention relates to a diagnostic tests and devices for conducting such tests at the point of care or in a diagnostic laboratory for accurate, simple, and rapid assessment of chest pain. In particular, the invention relates to differential diagnosis of the origin of chest pain, e.g., whether the pain is cardiac in origin, and for differentiating between unstable angina ("UA"), myocardial infarction ("MI"), congestive heart failure ("CHF"), and other ischemic events affecting the heart, at early onset of patient chest pain. The invention further relates to diagnosis of the stage of the MI in a patient suffering from MI, and to prognosis of such a patient.

  • Patent number: 5702905
Abstract: A monoclonal antibody having high affinity to the cardiac isoform of human myosin light chains is described. The monoclonal antibody is prepared against a synthetic peptide from the amino terminal end of myosin light chain-1. The monoclonal antibody can be used as a reagent in an immunoassay system to identify blood, serum or plasma levels of myosin light chains. Such an immunoassay system can be used for diagnosing and quantifying myocardial necrosis and infarction.

  • Patent number: 5665391
Abstract: A cultured, full-thickness integument substitute is disclosed which can be implanted in a patient suffering from severe burns, for example; and consists of a three-dimensional matrix membrane with essentially two surfaces because the length and width are substantially greater than the thickness; the membrane has pores in the area of a first surface thereof which are directly connected to but substantially larger on average than those in the area of the opposite surface of the membrane, and those pores have immobilized within them cells and components of the dermal layer of the integument; the membrane has pores in the area of a second surface thereof which are directly connected to but substantially smaller on average than those in the area of the opposite surface of the membrane, and those pores have immobilized within them cells and components of the epidermal layer of the integument; the membrane also has a lateral pore structure in its internal space which interconnects those pores which pass from one sur

  • Patent number: 5573957
Abstract: A monoclonal antibody having high affinity to human cardiac myoglobin, which has undergone a conformational change resulting from the binding of the molecule to another molecule is described. This monoclonal antibody can be used in a rapid format double antibody immunoassay system to identify blood, serum or plasma levels of cardiac myoglobin. Such an immunoassay system can be used for diagnosing and quantifying myocardial necrosis and infarction.

  • Patent number: 5560937
Abstract: A method is provided for isolating substantially intact cardiac troponin I from cardiac tissue comprising extracting the troponin I and purifying it in the presence of an effective mount of a mixture of protease inhibitors. The human cardiac troponin I, prepared by the present method is characterised by a molecular weight of about 28 kDa.

  • Patent number: 5290678
Abstract: A diagnostic test kit is disclosed for assessing whether patient chest pain is cardiac in origin and for differentiating between unstable angina and myocardial infarction at early onset of patient chest pain. The test kit comprises a receptacle for receiving and retaining a sample of blood or serum of the patient and at least three monoclonal or polyclonal antibodies suspended on a carrier. Each antibody is complementary to a different protein released by the heart muscle during early stages of a myocardial infarction and has corresponding reagents which are independently responsive to each antibody reacting the complementary protein. The combined response of reagents indicates the diagnostic condition of the patient.
