Patent number: 9347894Abstract: An imaging system may include a main enclosure having at least one access door that defines a substantially light-tight imaging compartment when the access door is in a closed position. An object platform provided within the main enclosure holds an object to be imaged. A camera system positioned on a first side of the object platform is operable to capture a visible light image of the object. A radiation detector positioned on the first side of the object platform is moveable from a first position to a second position across a field of view of the camera system. The radiation detector is operable to capture a radiographic image of the object by moving the radiation detector from the first position to the second position while detecting radiation from the object.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2011Date of Patent: May 24, 2016Assignee: Spectral Instruments Imaging, LLCInventors: Gary R. Sims, Michael B. Nelson, Michael D. Cable

Patent number: 8901516Abstract: An excitation light source assembly includes a housing defining a central opening therein and a plurality of lamp receptacles surrounding the central opening. The housing is mountable to a support structure having a camera mounted thereto so that a field of view of the camera is substantially unobstructed by the housing. A light source is positioned within each of the plurality of lamp receptacles. A diffuser is positioned adjacent the light source in each of the plurality of lamp receptacles so that each of the diffusers diffuses light produced by each of the light sources. A control system operatively connected to each of the light sources operates selected ones of the light sources to provide a desired excitation illumination to an object within the field of view of the camera.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2011Date of Patent: December 2, 2014Assignee: Spectral Instruments Imaging, LLCInventors: Michael B. Nelson, Michael D. Cable

Publication number: 20120229663Abstract: An imaging system includes a main enclosure having at least one access door, the main enclosure defining a substantially light-tight imaging compartment when the access door is in a closed position. An object platform defining an image region therein is provided within the imaging compartment of the main enclosure. A primary camera positioned on a first side of the object platform is operable to capture a primary image of the image region on the object platform. An auxiliary camera positioned on the first side of the object platform is operable to produce an auxiliary image of the image region on the object platform.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 6, 2012Publication date: September 13, 2012Applicant: SPECTRAL INSTRUMENTS IMAGING , LLCInventors: Michael B. Publication number: 20120049707Abstract: A light-tight door assembly may include a door with a leading side and a non-leading side. The door may be mounted to an enclosure so that the door can be translated with respect to an opening in the enclosure between an opened position and a closed position. A first flange member may be mounted to the non-leading side of the door and a second flange member may be mounted to the enclosure so that the second flange member cooperates with, but does not contact, the first flange member when the door is in the closed position. The non-contact cooperation of the first and second flange members forms a substantially light-tight seal when the door is in the closed position.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2011Publication date: March 1, 2012Applicant: SPECTRAL INSTRUMENTS IMAGING, LLCInventors: Michael B. Nelson, Joshua Ludeke
