Abstract: Dual color imaging process and system providing formation of an image having adjacent first and second areas respectively containing first and second types of pigmented particles undesirably separated by third areas relatively free of particles of the first and second types and causing the image to flow into the third areas, thereby at least partially eliminating the third areas.

Abstract: Apparatus for dispersion of solids in liquids including two relatively movable elements arranged so as to define a dispersing volume therebetween, a multiplicity of separate generally cylindrical dispersing elements disposed within the dispersing volume, and apparatus for supplying a solid suspended in a liquid to the dispersing volume for dispersing and for removing a solid dispersed in a liquid from the dispersed volume after dispersing, wherein the relatively movable elements are separated at the dispersing volume by a separation distance which is slightly greater than the minimum dimension of the dispersing elements.
Abstract: Apparatus for enhancement of image transfer including an image bearing surface and a second surface arranged for relative movement along a pathway whereby portions of the image bearing surface and the second surface sequentially come into propinquity and subsequently move out of propinquity, potential impression means associated with at least one portion of at least one of the image bearing surface and the second surface for impressing a potential on the at least one portion, and means for energizing the potential impression means only when such portions are located at predetermined locations along the pathway, thereby to provide image rigidization.
Abstract: Apparatus including a drum having a drum surface, apparatus for supplying a particle dispersion comprising particles to the drum surface, electrostatic apparatus for causing at least some of the particles to adhere to the drum surface and resilient blade apparatus downstream of the electrostatic apparatus for operative engagement with the drum surface for retaining a layer of particle rich material on the drum surface.

Abstract: Apparatus for image transfer including an image bearing surface and an image receiving surface arranged for relative movement along a pathway whereby portions of the image bearing surface and the image receiving surface sequentially come into propinquity for image transfer therebetween and subsequently move out of propinquity following image transfer therebetween, potential impression device associated with at least one portion of at least one of the image bearing surface and the image receiving surface for impressing a potential on the at least one portion, and device for energizing the potential impression device only when the at least one portion is located at a predetermined location along the pathway, thereby to provide desired image transfer enhancement.

Abstract: Apparatus for image transfer including an image bearing surface arranged to support a liquid toner image thereon, including image regions and background regions ,rigidizing means for rigidizing the toner image at the image regions, and squeegee means separate from the rigidizing means for removing excess liquid from the toner image after rigidization thereof, prior to transfer of the image to a substrate.
Abstract: A liquid toner composition for use in development of a latent electrostatic image in an electrostatic imaging process, which comprises an insulating, nonpolar liquid having admixed therewith a first type of pigmented particles carrying charges of a first polarity and a second type of pigmented particles carrying charges of a second polarity, opposite to the first polarity.

Abstract: An imaging system including apparatus for forming a latent image on a surface, the latent image including a first portion having a high level of electrostatic charge, a second portion having a low level of electrostatic charge and a third portion having an intermediate level of electrostatic charge, and apparatus for developing the latent image by contacting it with a liquid toner composition comprising an insulating, nonpolar liquid having admixed therewith a first type of pigmented particles having charges of a first polarity and a second type of pigmented particles having charges of an opposite polarity, such that the first type of pigmented particles becomes deposited onto the first portion and the second type of pigment particles becomes deposited onto the second portion.

Abstract: Imaging apparatus including a flexible substrate, apparatus for tensioning the flexible substrate in at least two directions and apparatus for bringing the tensioned flexible substrate into image transfer engagement with an image bearing surface. A method of imaging using the apparatus is also described.
Abstract: A half-tone reproduction of an object on a recording medium is produced using gray level values contained in the cells of an object matrix representative of the object. An actuatable marking device is operatively associated with and displaceable relative to the recording medium for printing a dot thereon at an exposure point determined by the location of the marking device at which the latter is actuated. A representation of the coordinates of the marking device is obtained, and converted to modular coordinates representative of the coordinates of the exposure point on a mesh of a fictitious of half-tone screen having a predetermined angular orientation relative to the print medium. A threshold screen value is computed from the modular coordinates, and a gray level value is obtained from the cell of the object matrix closest to the coordinates of the exposure point.
