Abstract: A base of the apparatus is upwardly spaced from the chimney end and supports an electric motor and reduction drive for powering a drum on which a cable is entrained. A chimney cleaning brush is mounted on a pole structure suspended from the base with vertical movement imparted to the brush by said cable. The pole structure is segmented and carries a drum at its lower end about which the cable is reversed. The pole structure is stabilized by a cross-member in abutment with the chimney walls. A motor control circuit includes switch components regulating the direction and duration of motor operation.
Abstract: A chimney cleaning apparatus having a base including a housing spaced above a chimney upper end by upright supports, a support structure depending from the base into that portion of the chimney to be cleaned. A reversible electric motor powers a cable carried brush along chimney surfaces with the brush carried by rotatable members on said base and at the lower end of the support structure. The support structure is adjustably coupled to the base to permit tensioning of the cable. A brush drive assembly includes a motor and speed reducer unit which drives a switch closing arm in opposite directions to establish and interrupt motor circuits. An arm assembly of a modified support structure is swingably mounted on a support structure post and swings horizontally to facilitate centering of the brush in the chimney.
Abstract: An apparatus including a powered brush for the periodic cleaning of a chimney or other smoke conduit. A reversible electric motor drives a brush carrying threaded shaft centrally disposed along a length of chimney conduit. Trigger means includes a toggle actuated at one limit of brush travel and alters a motor control circuit to effect reverse motor operation and hence change the direction of brush travel. The lower end of the motor driven shaft is stabilized against lateral displacement by a stationary spider within the chimney with the spider additionally serving to support the toggle and a push rod actuated by the toggle. The push rod passes through and stabilizes the brush against rotation.
