Patent number: 6722354Abstract: An archery bow has a cable guard with at least one guide pulley rotatably carried by the cable guard to receive at least one harness string portion and maintain the harness string portion out of a user's way while using the bow. The archery bow has a body or riser with a handle portion and a pair of limbs each having a free end spaced from the handle portion. A separate pulley is rotatably carried adjacent the free ends of each limb and at least one string is trained around the pulleys and has a draw string portion and at least one harness string portion. The harness string portion is trained around at least a portion of a guide pulley, and if more than one harness string portion is provided, then each harness string portion may be trained around a separate guide pulley to maintain the harness string portions separate from each other and to maintain each harness string portion in a laterally spaced relation from the drawstring portion.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2002Date of Patent: April 20, 2004Assignee: SpencoInventor: Spencer D. Patent number: 6669802Abstract: A composite riser for an archery bow formed from fibers embedded in resin in such a way that resin rich areas, dry fibers and voids are eliminated, providing consistent risers of high quality. The location of structural fibers, such as a carbon fibers or fiberglass composite materials, is ensured within a mold used to form the riser and relative to the resin which bonds the fibers together. Various processes may be used to form the riser with control of the fibers and resin maintained. For example, structural reaction injection molding, liquid composite molding, continuous fiber molding, modified compression molding, resin transfer molding and variable infusion molding processes can be used.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2000Date of Patent: December 30, 2003Assignee: SpencoInventors: Albert A. Patent number: 5845388Abstract: A method of producing a set of archery bow risers having a variety of shapes is taught in which a workpiece is designed having a shape that encompasses each one of the variety of shapes. A set of dies is produced for producing the workpiece and the dies are used to form a set of workpieces via forging, die-casting or composite resin/fiber molding. Finally, a set of bows having mutually different shapes are machined from the workpieces. The method taught avoids the expense of producing a new set of dies for each new archery bow riser design.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1997Date of Patent: December 8, 1998Assignee: Spenco, Inc.Inventors: Andy Andrews, Spencer Land

Patent number: 5370688Abstract: An encapsulated gel breast prosthesis and method of manufacturing therefor is provided wherein a nipple/areola member and gelled breast body are disposed within an inner skin and outer skin which define the exterior shape of the breast prosthesis. The nipple/areola member has a shape, color and hardness simulating the natural shape, color and hardness of a human breast. The encapsulated gel breast prosthesis is fabricated by forming an outer skin and an inner skin. The outer skin is shaped to simulate the natural contour of a woman's breast and includes a region corresponding to the nipple and areola of the breast. A nipple/areola member having a shape, color and hardness, which simulates the natural shape, color and hardness of a woman's nipple and areola is disposed between the outer and inner skins which are then sealed together along their peripheries. This forms a capsule with the nipple/areola member enclosed therein.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1993Date of Patent: December 6, 1994Assignee: Spenco Medical CorporationInventors: Michael W. Patent number: 5330249Abstract: There is disclosed a cushion for absorbing energy to dampen vibration, distribute pressure and absorb shock. The cushion has a deformable polyurethane bladder which defines a chamber adapted to contain a fluid, such as air. A piece of viscoelastic material, such as a highly plasticized PVC gel, may be located inside the bladder so that when air is introduced into the chamber, the cushion is capable of absorbing energy to dampen low amplitude vibration, distribute pressure and absorb high amplitude shock. The cushion has a valve in fluid communication with the chamber for selectively varying the amount of air so that the shock absorbing capability of the cushion may be varied.Various embodiments incorporating the cushion are disclosed, including a removable bicycle saddle pad, a bicycle saddle, a wheelchair seat pad and a cyclist's glove.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1992Date of Patent: July 19, 1994Assignee: Spenco Medical CorporationInventors: Fredric J. Patent number: 5319867Abstract: An electrically conductive shoe insole is disclosed for cushioning a user's foot and for transferring electrical charges from the wearer's foot to a conductive shoe. The shoe insole includes a cushioned layer, which contains an electrically conductive material, and a fabric, which is bonded to the top surface of the cushioned layer by a nonconductive adhesive. The fabric contains a noncorrosive electrically conductive fiber interwoven therein. The adhesive is applied such that the electrically conductive fibers in the fabric contact the cushioned layer. This allows transfer of electrical charges from the fabric to the cushioned layer.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1993Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Assignee: Spenco Medical CorporationInventor: Fredric J. Patent number: 5157551Abstract: The invention comprises a rear view mirror having a surrounding frame with a sleeve mounted vertically along one vertical edge of the frame. The sleeve has a slot and a screw is mounted within the sleeve with a pair of spiral grooves of opposite pitch connected together at their upper and lower edges to form an oscillating path. A ring is slidably mounted on the screw with a pin on the ring engaging the screw in one of the grooves. A motor drives the screw to cause the ring to oscillate vertically in the sleeve and a wiper has an arm connected to the ring through the slot in the sleeve, so that the oscillation of the ring on the screw causes the wiper to oscillate upward and downward on the mirror to wipe the mirror to remove rainfall.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1989Date of Patent: October 20, 1992Assignee: Spenco, Inc.Inventor: Jonathan P. Patent number: 4977691Abstract: An insole (10) for athletic shoes and the like. A first layer (12) of the insole is suitable for disposition toward a user's foot. A second molded layer (14) is comprised of a visco-elastic material. The visco-elastic material typically comprises a plasticizer, and, in minor portion, a resin material, and has the ability to flow, upon exertion of a force thereon, with sufficient elasticity to resume its original shape upon removal of the force. The second layer comprises a lower surface comprising recesses which make up less than 20% of the exterior surface in the absence of deforming forces. The recessed areas function to receive adjacent material of the second layer upon application of pressure representative of the presssure applied by the human foot. A third optional layer (16) of a foamed plastic material may be interposed between the first and second layers.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1989Date of Patent: December 18, 1990Assignee: Spenco Medical CorporationInventor: Lewis P.
