Abstract: A method and system for balancing the load of computer resources among a plurality of computers having consumers consuming the resources is disclosed. After defining the lower threshold of the consumption level of the resources and obtaining the consumption level of the resources for each of the consumers and for each of said computers, the consumption level for each of the computers is compared during a period with its associated lower threshold. Whenever a computer having a consumption level of the resources higher than the lower threshold is identified, a new layout of computer resources for each of the consumers is determined. Consumers are then shifted from their current location in the computer to a corresponding location in another computer according to the layout, so that the consumption level of the resource(s) for a computer may be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20050283481
Abstract: Method allowing a computerized manager to transparently allocate computational resources to a plurality of users. A plurality of computers or servers are provided for accommodating the computational resources or for storing data. These computational resources and the data are arranged as a hierarchical repository. A root computer is used as an interface between the users and the computers or servers. The root computer is capable of communicating with the users, with the computers or with servers. The computers or servers are controlled and the manager is allowed to allocate computer resources to the users. Information is stored in the computers or servers, in a local repository or in the system files of the computers or servers.

  • Publication number: 20050246705
Abstract: Method for dynamically allocating and managing resources in a computerized system managed by an operating system (OS) and having multiple accounts of consumers. Portions of the virtual memory address space are allocated, whenever desired, in a swap file, for each account associated with a consumer. The memory address space is limited for each account. The CPU usage is divided between the tasks requested from each account, and segments in the original code of the OS are changed by locating one or more specific procedures in the original code, and modifying the specific procedures to operate according to the allocation and/or the limitation of the memory address space and/or the limitation of the number of processes and/or the divided CPU usage.

  • Publication number: 20050091310
Abstract: A method and system for hosting one or more virtual dedicated servers on a hosting computer system is disclosed, such that accessing the system utilities and application programs is carried out remotely via a data network. After creating each virtual dedicated server by assigning a sub directory tree derived from the root directory of the hosting computer file system as its root directory tree, placing operating system utilities, program(s) to be executed by the virtual dedicated server and/or hard links to the program(s) on the sub directory tree, data incoming through the communication port(s) of the computer system is intercepted. Upon identifying a request for service, the data is processed so that the virtual dedicated server to which the request is directed can be identified and the request is forwarded to the service provider.

  • Publication number: 20040236861
Abstract: A method and system for providing a Web service by a plurality of Web domains hosted by a computer, through a single IP address, is disclosed. A server having a unique domain name and the same IP address is allocated for each of the domains, while a software module intermediates between a client of the service and each of the servers. Upon receiving a request for connecting the client to one of the servers in order to provide the service, the target domain name of the request is identified by interacting between the client and the software module via standard communication protocol. The software module communicates with the server providing the service associated with the target domain name also by the standard protocol. A communication channel is then established between the server and the client, so that the server is allowed to provide the desired service to the client.
