  • Patent number: 11953440
Abstract: The described method and system allow the simultaneous detection of multicolored samples, e.g. in live cells or tissues, in a simple experimental geometry. It relies on combining ultrashort ultra-broadband laser sources (10) with a fluorescence microscope setup able to collect fluorescence intensities and/or photon arrival times per excitation volume, as well as nonlinear signals, such as second/third-harmonic and sum-frequency generation. In the description, the presented method is referred to as “SyncRGB method”.

  • Patent number: 11768580
Abstract: Computer-implemented method of positioning a set of objects on a user interface on a surface of a three-dimensional structure, each member of the set of the objects having a size in two dimensions. Objects are assigned to a respective one of a plurality of subsets of objects based on object characteristics. Each subset is assigned to a respective two-dimensional portion of predetermined size. For each subset having an unpositioned object, object occupancy in the portion is identified and unpositioned objects are allocated to a position within the portion on the basis of object dimension and unoccupied space. The two-dimensional portions are positioned based on a specification and each object position is mapped within the portions to a three-dimensional coordinate. Responsive to input, positioning of the plurality of two-dimensional portions is modified, and each allocated object position is mapped to a new three-dimensional coordinate within the modified portion positions.

  • Patent number: 11105687
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for in-line measurement of laser pulses with time-dependent polarization are described, which make possible to carry out in-line measurement of laser pulses whose polarization depends on time. For this, one or more polarization projections are selected: the spectrometer detects the projection on the extraordinary propagation axis of a birefringent system to measure the spectrum in that component, also the projection on the ordinary propagation axis, to measure the spectrum in that component, and finally a projection in an intermediate direction that allows to measure the interference spectrum between the two components. The method allows extracting the temporal evolution of the pulse and its polarization state as a function of time, spectral amplitudes and phases of the various polarization projections of the beam.

  • Patent number: 11077441
Abstract: Instruments and cartridges for processing droplets in emulsions containing biological entities such as cells. A method of such processing comprises providing a plurality of the entities in a fluid; preparing a droplet from the fluid; determining whether the droplet contains one or more entities of said plurality of entities, or whether said droplet does not contain a said entity; sorting said droplet dependent on an outcome of the determination; and dispensing the sorted droplet into a reservoir. The dispensing may comprise identifying and extracting the sorted droplet from a first fluidic flow path of said fluid by transferring the sorted droplet from into a second fluidic flow path and then ejecting the sorted droplet into a reservoir by applying pressure to the second fluidic flow path. The droplet contents may be tracked so that the contents of an individual droplet can be sorted, selectively dispensed, and retrieved.

  • Patent number: 11035737
Abstract: The present application relates to a method and system for characterization and compression of ultrashort pulses. It is described a flexible self-calibrating dispersion-scan technique and respective system to characterize and compress ultrashort laser pulses over a broad range of pulse parameters, where previous knowledge of the amount of dispersion introduced for each position or step of the compressor is not required. The self-calibrating d-scan operation is based on the numerical retrieval of the spectral phase of the pulses using an optimization algorithm, where the spectral phase is treated as a multi-parameter unknown variable, and where the unknown dispersion of the dispersion scanning system is described by a theoretical model of its functional dependence on the compressor position.
