  • Patent number: 6308381
Abstract: Adjustable belts include new and improved belt buckles which allow for convenient adjustment of belt lengths, as well as secure and easily adjustable couplings of the two ends of the belts. This is accomplished by providing the belt buckles with an arrangement of slots and struts around which the belt is looped to selectively accumulate its length thereon and through which the belt is trained, so as to frictionally retain the belt on the buckle while determining the length of the belt.

  • Patent number: 6241631
Abstract: An arrangement for belts used in flag-tag games includes a new and improved belt buckle which allows for convenient adjustment of belt lengths, as well as a secure and easily adjustable coupling of the two ends of the belt. This is accomplished by providing the belt buckle with an arrangement of slots and struts around which the belt is looped and through which the belt is trained so as to frictionally retain the belt on the buckle while determining the length of the belt. In order to attach the flags to the belt, two suction cup embodiments are employed in which the first fitting having a suction cup with an outward opening is received within a second fitting having a suction cup with an outward opening. In order to facilitate the reliable coupling, one of the cups has a vent so that air is expelled when the cups are coupled.

  • Patent number: 5643139
Abstract: A contoured landing surface system and a method of making thereof are provided. The system matches landing surface or pit density to the force generated by an athlete's descending body to cushion the athlete's fall based on air displacement rather than foam characteristics. The system is designed to compensate for variables such a velocity, mass and surface area at the point of impact by utilizing a multi-layer structure, each layer having a plurality of patterned ridges thereon and a network of air channels therebetween. The ridges and air channels of adjacent layers extend perpendicular to the ridges and air channels of each other. Preferably, the landing surface is constructed using layers of foam having the same density.

  • Patent number: 5476297
Abstract: A ball shagger and carrying device for balls retrieved is provided. The shagger portion of the device is constructed generally of a body, a retaining member, an extensible member and a shagging mechanism arranged such that the members form a retractable tubular member for convenient storage and transportation. The carrying portion of the device is a bag or the like attached to the end opposite of the shagging portion. In a preferred embodiment, the shagger member eliminates contaminant build-up upon retraction of the extensible member. In an alternative embodiment, the tube or shagger portion of the device is adjustable such that the inside diameter of the tube can be increased or decreased to shag or retrieve balls of varying sizes.

  • Patent number: 5337907
Abstract: Apparatus for holding articles such as drink cups and related personal articles of persons such as members of an athletic team. Individual pockets for holding drink containers are formed along a support panel, and corresponding hooks are supported by the panel in juxtaposed relation to the pockets. Those hooks are intended for supporting personal articles such as gloves or the like in a predetermined location next to the drinking-cup holder chosen for each individual. The entire apparatus is supported on a vertical backstop such as a chain-link fence, by separate hooks provided for that purpose.

  • Patent number: 5052686
Abstract: A tennis net according to the present invention includes a length of netting having a top edge, a bottom edge, a first side edge and a second side edge, with the side edges of the netting being spaced apart from each other and joining the top edge to the bottom edge. A headband of preferably thermoplastic material is folded upon itself longitudinally to enclose a portion of the top edge of the netting and then welded to itself in a predetermined manner to retain the headband on the netting.

  • Patent number: 4988098
Abstract: A machine for exercising the rotator cuff of a user includes an upright support frame having a front, a top, first and second sides defining a plane of the upright support frame, and a support structure extending from the front adjacent the top of the upright support frame. The machine preferably includes a forearm support assembly for supporting a forearm of the user in a plane substantially transverse to the plane of the upright support frame, wherein the transverse plane also passes through the shoulders of the user such that the user's arm is positioned substantially in the transverse plane to isolate the user's rotator cuff. A tension mechanism is mounted on the upright support frame and includes a tensioned cable. A cam mechanism is connected to the tensioned cable and supported by the support structure of the upright support frame for rotation with the forearm support assembly under tension as the user's forearm is rotated.
