  • Patent number: 7853259
Abstract: A method of UU message transfer for fast call setup. The method includes encapsulating a Service Request into a RRC Connection Request. When a UE starts the service sensitive to call setup delay, the RRC layer encapsulates the Service Request into IDT. If this encapsulation is successful, the RRC connection request message undergoes non-critical extension, and the encapsulated IDT is disposed into the extended portion. The RNC, after receiving the extended RRC connection request, extracts the IDT message from the extended RRC CONNECTION REQUEST and sends it to the CN.

  • Patent number: 7853257
Abstract: This invention presents a method for fast call setup in a mobile communication system, including the steps of radio resource control (RRC) connection setup, Non-access stratum (NAS) signaling connection setup and NAS signaling interaction, and radio access bearer (RAB) setup. User equipment (UE) sends a RRC CONNECTION REQUEST, which encapsulates NAS, to RNC. In response, the radio resource control (RNC) digests the RRC CONNECTION REQUEST and forwards NAS to the core network (CN), which sends RAB Assignment Request to RNC and starts to send the paging message to the terminal call.

  • Patent number: 7738532
Abstract: This invention discloses a channel estimation method for partial IC in TD-SCDMA intra-frequency cell, Specifically IC or de-correlation multi-user detection is utilized. Partial IC is implemented to realize the joint detection of the channel in several intra-frequency cells. As to n cells, the detailed procedures go as follows: At first, n 2×128 memories are established, just as s1, s2, s3 . . . sn, in order to store the complex serial. Midamble codes of the received signal constitute the 128-chip data. Step 1: The data taken from Midamble codes of the received signals undergo the Partial IC process of the residual past in the first cell. The process of channel estimation in the first cell is undertaken. Afterwards, the received signals of UE from the 1st cell are recovered.

  • Patent number: 7725090
Abstract: A technique is provided for automatic frequency offset correction in a wireless communication system. After demodulating and decoding a received signal in a receiver, channel estimation is also performed. The technique further includes re-encoding and re-modulating the decoded and demodulated signal with a coding and modulation scheme different from the received signal. The signal is reconstructed signal on the basis of the re-encoded and re-modulated signal and estimated channel characteristics. A frequency error is estimated based on the reconstructed signal and the original received signal. A threshold for a comparator is determined on the basis of the estimated offset amount determined by the comparison threshold and the estimated frequency offset.

  • Patent number: 7711341
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention adjust an operating mode of a configurable receiver based at least in part on a selected communication service to be provided and an available signal quality. A control unit receives data related to one or more selected communication services to be provided. The control unit also receives information about the environmental operating conditions in which the configurable receiver is operating, via one or more signal quality metrics. The control unit adjusts the operating mode of the configurable receiver by modifying the gain of a received signal, the channel bandwidth, or controlling the synthesizers or equalizers.

  • Patent number: 7688880
Abstract: A high dynamic range low noise direct conversion transmitter within a multimode apparatus having multiple transmit and receive operating modes is described. The direct conversion transmitter can include a digital baseband coupled to a low noise direct conversion stage. A high dynamic range current folding digital to analog converter can be used to convert the digital baseband signals to analog representations. A wide dynamic range variable gain baseband amplifier couples the baseband signal to the direct conversion stage. A controllable passive attenuation stage operates to provide further gain control. Carrier feedthrough can be substantially eliminated using a carrier feedthrough cancellation loop that selectively utilizes one of a plurality of receivers configured for one of the multiple receive modes.

  • Patent number: 7676211
Abstract: A reconfigurable baseband filter for use in a multimode communication system is disclosed. One or more filter elements can each be configured as a plurality of sub-elements. The value of each of the filter elements can be varied by switching between at least two of the plurality of sub-elements. Switching noise within a desired passband can be reduced by switching at a rate that is greater than the desired passband. The switching noise in the passband can be further reduced by pseudo-randomly switching between the sub-elements. The filter can use a delta-sigma modulator to generate a pseudo-random switching signal.

  • Patent number: 7664113
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for system multiplexing and program element identification is disclosed. A multiplexer generates a sequence of transport packets and associated program element information tables (PEIT). The header of a transport packet carrying the PEIT includes a unique PEIT indicator. A de-multiplexer first locates the PEIT by the unique PEIT indicator in the transport packet header. The de-multiplexer utilizes the corresponding program element identifier (PEID) of the program specific information (PSI) to search for the required transport packet that contains the PSI. The de-multiplexer then locates and extracts the needed elementary streams by searching for the associated PEID in the PEIT. The elementary streams are then sent to decoders for further processing.

  • Patent number: 7626965
Abstract: Midamble codes, acting as channel estimation, and information data, as well as system information, will be sent to the joint cell detector. Midamble codes are sent to the estimator of adjacent cell, as well as that of its own cell. As a matter of fact, channel response is sent to channel noise-depressed modules to be depressed. Then the depressed channel is sent to channel window activation detector to receive first activation detection, to see whether the channel windows are activated. Channel response, after detected by channel window, will be sent to multi-user jointed detection unit together with information data. The soft bit information, after having been demoduled or detected, will be transmitted to the following Transport Channel Decoding (TrCH) modules and Channel Decoding (CC) modules.
