  • Patent number: 5416266
Abstract: The end flange (16) of the first encasing part (10) of the gas-insulated high-tension installation is an outer flange and includes through bores (34). A first securing ring (18) is provided on the end-face side of the end flange (16). The securing ring holds a first insulator (28). The first securing ring (18) includes through bores (36) which are in alignment with the through bores (34) and which have a stepped configuration. The step forms, in each instance, a counterabutment (42), which cooperates with the abutment (44) of the respective threaded bolt (38). To secure the first securing ring (18) on the first encasing part (10), the abutment (44) rests on the counterabutment (42) and, on the other side, the threaded bolt (38) is supported by the nut (48) on the end flange (16).

  • Patent number: 5304762
Abstract: The gas-blast circuit breaker has passages in the pump piston which connect the pump space to the arcing space surrounding the quenching tube and to the surrounding space located within the circuit breaker housing. These passages are held closed during switching-off and open during switching-on by valve devices. For this purpose, in one embodiment the pump piston is used as a valve seat and an annular disk is used as a valve body which is common to the first valve and to the second valve, the first valve controlling the passage between the pump space and the surrounding space, and the second valve controlling the passage between the pump space and the arcing space. When switching-off large currents, the piston is subjected to an overpressure in the switching-off direction, which overpressure is produced by switching gas flowing into the arcing space, in order to support the drive. The valves are prevented from opening due to the pressure in the pump space.

  • Patent number: 5269055
Abstract: In the course of the assembly of a circuit-breaker pole, the individual parts of a housing are stacked loosely one on top of the other and fixedly positioned. This fixing can be accomplished by applying subatmospheric pressure or a partial vacuum within the housing and/or by means of a holding device. Spaces open in the upward direction and located between a fitting and a support insulator as well as between a fitting and a quenching-chamber insulator are then filled with casting material. After this casting material has at least partially hardened, the circuit-breaker pole is turned upside down by rotating the holding device about a horizontal axis, whereupon spaces now open in the upward direction and located between a fitting and the quenching-chamber insulator as well as between a fitting and the support insulator are filled with casting material.

  • Patent number: 5248862
Abstract: In a gas-blast circuit breaker, compressed gas is directed through a movable contact maker into a blow-out space, the latter being delimited by a cylinder and a piston which is operatively associated with the movable contact maker. The piston comprises inlet openings which are releasably closed by means of a valve body. At a neck or collar of the piston there is displaceably mounted an actuating element, the latter being reciprocatingly movable between a lower first lock-in position and an upper second lock-in position. The actuating element comprises a nose or lug which, during the closing operation, abuts against an upper stop face or surface, whereby the actuating element is brought into the lower first lock-in position. The valve body thereby moves into the closed position thereof.

  • Patent number: 5128502
Abstract: A three-pole switch arrangement has for each pole a pole housing, onto which collar-shaped extensions, protruding on the underside, are formed. Provided in the extensions are screw holes, the graduation of which corresponds to the screw coupling, by which the mechanism housing has been screwed to the pole housing. The outer switch poles are oriented outwardly by one graduation and are fastened to the frame by means of screws. Counter to this inclined position, the mechanism housing, rotated by one graduation, is screwed onto the pole housing. It is consequently possible to use the same parts for all three switch poles, and also to transport the switch arrangement pole-by-pole.

  • Patent number: 5113056
Abstract: The stored-spring-energy actuator mechanism (210) for the high-voltage circuit breaker (218) has a spiral spring (216) which can be loaded by means of the loading device (212). The high-voltage circuit breaker (218) can be switched on once and off once with the energy stored in the loaded spiral spring (216). The energy stored in the fluid-pressure accumulator (258) is sufficiently great to charge the spiral spring (216) at least once. The working-stroke movement of the piston rod (242) in arrow direction (A) is transformed via the gear segment (236) into a rotation through 360.degree. of the gear (232) meshing with this gear segment (236). The spiral spring (216) is thereby loaded via the loading lever (230).

  • Patent number: 5098318
Abstract: An electrical contact assembly has a contact carrier formed with symmetrically opposed rows of comb-like guides, opposed rows of double-ended contact fingers mounted in the guides, a first contact piece supported by the contact carrier between the contact fingers at one end of the fingers and a second contact piece for insertion between the contact fingers at the opposite end of the fingers. For resiliently urging the fingers to contact the respective contact pieces, a pair of spring elements are attached to the contact carrier. Each spring element has a central web mounted on the carrier and opposite rows of arms extending from the web to engage opposite portions of the respective fingers.

  • Patent number: 5091615
Abstract: A housing of a vacuum switch has in an upper connecting region a passage, through which the connecting element is led. The latter engages with its end region in a recess, opposite the passage, in the housing. In the region of the passage, the connecting element is supported on a support tongue and clamped tight by a wedge-shaped retaining member. The vacuum switch chamber is bolted on to the connecting element. The connecting element can also be secured to the housing at the support point opposite the passage.

  • Patent number: 5055640
Abstract: An insulating supporting frame of a multi-pin switch arrangement has a box-shaped base part and an insulating supporting part arranged over it. Insulating housings encompassing the vacuum switch tubes are formed onto a wall part. On the rear, bearing parts which are parallel to one another and at a distance from one another are cast onto the wall part, the bearing parts being connected to a top wall of the box-shaped base part. A drive shaft of a spring-force drive is mounted on the bearing parts. The spring-force drive is connected via a linkage to a movable switch contact of the vacuum switch tube. The one-piece insulating supporting frame is constructed in such a way that practically all the parts of the switch arrangement can be arranged on it.

  • Patent number: 5015809
Abstract: A switch arrangement includes three identical insulating support frames in the tubular insulating housings of which one vacuum switching tube each is arranged. Parallel insulating wall elements, at which support elements are molded for drive parts of a spring force drive, project from the insulating housings. An output shaft of the spring force drive is supported at all insulating wall elements while the remaining drive parts are arranged at the insulating wall elements of the center insulating support frame.

  • Patent number: 4996397
Abstract: Two disks per vacuum switch tube are mounted on a drive shaft, the disks having grooves running around the drive shaft and open in relation to one another. In the grooves of two of these disks, a cylindrical follower is guided, the movement of which is transmitted via a link to a swivel lever and to a movable switch contact. The drive shaft is driven, supported via a releasable support member in the switch-on and in the switch-off position, in a clockwise direction by the spiral spring in order to switch off or switch on the power switch. The follower is restrictedly guided in the grooves of the disks, whereby the position of the movable switch contact is obliged to correspond to the corresponding rotation position of the drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 4968861
Abstract: In a stored-spring-energy type actuator mechanism for a high-voltage circuit breaker, energy is stored in a spiral spring in order to switch on the circuit breaker and also to load a switch-off spring of the circuit breaker. To store sufficient energy for more than one switch-on operation, a fluid-pressure accumulator is provided in which sufficient energy is stored to wind up the spiral ring at least one additional time through a fluid-pressure motor. Between the pressure accumulator and the motor is a control valve which opens when the spiral spring is partly unloaded, causing the hydraulic motor to rewind the spring.
