Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a process for separation of enantiomers of the amino acid from a racemic mixture. The process comprises electrolyzing the first electrolyte having 1 molar solution of lithium perchlorate and 0.01 molar solution of racemic mixture of amino acid in an electrochemical cell containing a working electrode having polycrystalline metal surface configured to adsorb L-enantiomer of amino acid using a saw-tooth current. Further, the polarity of the saw-tooth current is reversed to de-adsorb the L-enantiomer of amino acid from the working electrode into the second electrolyte re-filled in the cell. The process of the present disclosure to separate enantiomer of amino acid from a racemic mixture is simple and economical.
Abstract: A system (100) for supervising an occupant of a wheelchair relates to the field of electronics engineering. The system (100) enables an authorized person to effectively supervise the occupant. The system (100) further enables the occupant to control electrical appliances. The system (100) includes a plurality of sensors (102) configured to sense various parameters related to the occupant and the wheelchair. The sensed parameters are stored in a server (108), which enables the authorized person to effectively supervise the occupant and take necessary actions in case of the health of the occupant deteriorates. The system (100) also enables the authorized person to track the wheelchair, and to locate the wheelchair if the wheelchair meets an accident. Further, the system (100) enables the occupant to control the electrical appliances while sitting on the wheelchair.
Abstract: The present invention relates to microbial fuel cells, which can be prepared from easily available starting material. The microbial fuel cell of the present disclosure comprises an anode chamber having an anode and a cathode chamber having a cathode. The anode chamber is filled with a mixture comprising a buffer solution, nutrients and a microbial inoculum. The cathode chamber is filled with a catholyte mediator and an electron mediator. The cathode chamber and the anode chamber are connected with each other via a salt bridge; the cathode and the anode is connected through an external electrical circuit, with the anode chamber sealed to maintain anaerobic condition and the cathode chamber is maintained in aerobic condition.
