  • Patent number: 4967678
Abstract: A speed controller for controlling revolution speed of the upper shaft of a cycle sewing machine comprises a first disk shaped stop lever adjustment cam that has a small diameter portion, middle diameter portions and a large diameter portion. The cam is rotatably driven by an upper shaft. The small diameter portion establishes a neutral position at which a first driving clutch for low speed rotation and a second driving clutch for high speed rotation are disengaged from each other. The middle portions establish a position at which the first clutch is connected to a first driving wheel for low speed rotation. The large diameter portion establishes a position at which the second clutch is connected to a second driving wheel for high speed rotation. A first end portion of the large diameter portion is defined by a second cam. The second cam is secured to the first cam by an adjustable device which can vary the circumferential position of the second cam.

  • Patent number: 4957828
Abstract: An emergency battery monitor is adapted for use with at least one storage battery. The battery has first and second output terminals across which an output voltage is produced, the battery, when in normal operation, exhibiting an output voltage falling within a nominal value range having predetermined maximum and minimum values. The battery has at least one cell which contains a liquid electrolyte. The electrolyte, when the battery is in normal operation, has a predetermined minimum level in the cell. The monitor includes a member associated with the cell, which is electrically conductive when the level of the electrolyte is at least equal to the minimum level and is electrically non-conductive when the level of the electrolyte falls below the minimum level. Integrated circuits coupled to the output terminals and the member produce a first signal designating normal battery operation when the member is conductive and the value of the output voltage falls within the nominal value range.

  • Patent number: 4957052
Abstract: A triple folding device for folding a hem of a towel utilizes four cams respectively driven by a single rotative drive source, and four link mechanisms respectively driven by corresponding cams. A guide ruler secured to a first guide shaft is driven by one of the link mechanisms. A thrust block is connected to and driven by another one of the link mechanisms. An upper presser is secured to a second guide shaft which is driven by yet another link mechanism. Another second thrust block is connected to and driven by yet another link mechanism. A lower presser is positioned under the upper presser. A pressing unit is driven by a second drive unit. A guide ruler is moved vertically and horizontally by the vertical motion of the first guide shaft and the horizontal motion of the first thrust block for guiding a hem of a towel. The lower presser is moved horizontally by a first drive unit to press the hem of the towel.

  • Patent number: 4955152
Abstract: A steam iron press employs first and second members and a lever mechanism connected to the second member and when manually actuated by an operator causing the second member to be moved to any position between a position of maximum separation and a position of engagement with respect to the first member. The second member receives water and converts the water into steam which is expelled through openings therein. A pump connected between the second member and a water reservoir feeds water to the second member. A cam mechanism is connected between the lever mechanism and the pump to only actuate the pump during a predetermined interval t between the instant of time T1 at which the lever mechanism has initiated movement of the second member toward the first member and the instant of time T2 at which an article to be pressed is squeezed between the two surfaces.
