Publication number: 20160067041Abstract: A collapsible prosthetic heart valve includes a stent and a valve assembly. The stent has an annulus section with a relatively small cross-section, and an aortic section with a relatively large cross-section. The valve assembly, including a cuff and a plurality of leaflets, is secured to the stent in the annulus section such that the valve assembly can be entirely deployed in the native valve annulus and function as intended while at least a portion of the aortic section is held by the delivery device in a manner that allows for resheathing. The configuration of the prosthetic valve is such that the valve leaflets can fully coapt and the valve can function properly even when the stent and/or valve assembly become distorted upon deployment or use.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 18, 2015Publication date: March 10, 2016Applicant: St. Jude Medical, Cardiology Division, Inc. d/b/a St. Jude Medical, Cardiovascular DivisionInventors: Yousef F. Patent number: 9107656Abstract: A suture delivery device for insertion into an internal tissue wall opening and delivery of a suturing apparatus to the internal tissue wall is provided. In one embodiment, the suture delivery device comprises at least one carrier tube, at least one leg, and a tensioning device. The at least one carrier tube is configured to house a pusher and a suturing apparatus, the carrier tube having an expulsion end. The at least one leg is coupled to the at least one tube at a first end of the leg. The tensioning device is pivotally coupled to the at least one leg at a second end of the leg. When the at least one leg is in an open position, the tensioning device exerts tension on the leg such that the leg is movably suspended and can pivot about the tensioning device in response to contacting a tissue wall, and the pusher and suturing apparatus are in an delivery configuration for delivery of the suturing apparatus to the internal tissue wall.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2006Date of Patent: August 18, 2015Assignee: ST. Publication number: 20120197391Abstract: A collapsible prosthetic heart valve includes a collapsible and expandable stent and a collapsible and expandable valve assembly. The stent has a proximal end and a distal end. A plurality of commissure points is disposed on the stent. The valve assembly is disposed within the stent and includes a plurality of leaflets. Each leaflet has a free edge. An end portion of the free edge of each leaflet is folded and sutured to a corresponding one of the plurality of the commissure points.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 23, 2011Publication date: August 2, 2012Applicant: St. Jude Medical, Cardiology Division, Inc. d/b/a St. Jude Medical Cardiovascular DivisionInventors: Yousef F. Publication number: 20100069954Abstract: A device for sealing a patent foramen ovale (PFO) in the heart is provided. The device includes a left atrial anchor adapted to be placed in a left atrium of the heart, a right atrial anchor adapted to be placed in a right atrium of the heart, and an elongate member adapted to extend through the passageway and connect the left and right atrial anchors. The right atrial anchor preferably includes a plurality of arms and a cover attached to the arms. The left atrial anchor preferably also includes a plurality of arms and preferably does not include a cover. Preferably, the elongate member has a first end fixedly connected to the left atrial anchor and a portion, proximal to the first end, passing through the right atrial anchor. Preferably, the elongate member is flexible.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 25, 2009Publication date: March 18, 2010Applicant: ST. JUDE MEDICAL CARDIOVASCULAR DIVISIONInventors: David J.
