Patents Assigned to STACKPOLE INTERNATIONAL ENGINEERED PRODUCTS LTD
  • Patent number: 11480173
Abstract: Disclosed is a pump for dispensing lubricant to a system. The pump includes: a housing having an inlet for inputting lubricant into the housing and an outlet for delivering the lubricant therefrom. A control slide is pivotable about a pivot pin within the housing in a displacement increasing direction and a displacement decreasing direction to adjust pump displacement. A resilient structure biases the control slide in the displacement increasing direction. A pressure relief valve is mounted to the pivot pin and positioned along an outflow path leading pressurized lubricant from the control slide to the outlet. The pressure relief valve is biased in a closing direction and has a pressure receiving surface receiving pressure from the lubricant in the outflow path to urge the pressure relief valve in an opening direction. Opening the relief opening allows outflow of lubricant to relieve pressure in the outflow path.

  • Patent number: 10871161
Abstract: An epitrochoidal vacuum pump includes a housing having a chamber, a rotor rotatably received within the internal space of the chamber, and a drive shaft configured to rotate the rotor eccentrically about an axis within the chamber in an epitrochoidal manner. An externally toothed guide sprocket meshes with and guides movement of a guide gear of the rotor as it is driven by the drive shaft. A chamber inlet draws air under negative pressure into the housing, and an outlet is provided to expulse air under positive pressure from the housing. Further, a fluid inlet is provided to input lubricant along the drive shaft and into the internal space of the chamber. The fluid inlet is communicated by channel(s) in an interior of the housing. The lubricant is drawn into the housing via a pressure differential.

  • Patent number: 10815991
Abstract: A dual input fluid pump system for coupling to a transmission or an engine and an electrical motor is disclosed. The system may include a first external gear, vane, internal gear, or gerotor-type pump, a second external gear pump, and connecting shaft. Gears of the second pump include one-way clutch bearings that enable operation of the system in multiple modes including engine-only; motor-only; a combined mode where the engine operates the first pump via the shaft and the motor operates the second pump with an external gear rotating in its pumping direction at a rate greater than the shaft; inlet boost; and a disconnection mode. Also noted is a pump that has a first shaft for coupling the engine to a first external gear and a second shaft for coupling the motor to a second external gear, as well as a one-way clutch bearing that performs in a similar manner.

  • Patent number: 10253772
Abstract: Provided is a variable displacement vane pump with a control slide and a first and second control chambers. Also, the pump has a control system for controlling delivery of pressurized lubricant to the chambers. The control system includes a control device configured for movement between at least a first control position and a second control position. The control device may include its own housing and/or include discs configured for relative movement. The pivot pin may include grooves for delivering a flow from the outlet to the control system. In the first control position, pressurized lubricant is delivered to the first control chamber and the second control chamber is vented, which increases the output flow of the pump. In the second control position, pressurized lubricant is delivered to the second control chamber and the first control chamber is vented, which decreases the output flow of the pump.

  • Patent number: 10247187
Abstract: A variable displacement vane pump has a control slide displaceable within its housing and a first control chamber and a second control chamber for receiving pressurized lubricant. A thermally adjustable control valve is provided in the housing for adjusting pump displacement based on a temperature of the lubricant. In addition to fluid communication channels in the control chambers, at least one vent port is provided in the second chamber. The control valve is configured to control pressure and fluid communication between the chambers along with the control slide. The control valve can help reduce pump displacement at lower temperatures and low engine speeds. At lower temperatures, the second control chamber can be pressurized by the first control chamber. At higher temperatures, the second control chamber can be vented through the control valve and/or the vent port, despite the position of the control slide.

  • Patent number: 9534519
Abstract: A variable displacement vane pump has a pressure controlled valve moveable between first and at least second valve positions based on an output pressure of the pressurized lubricant delivered through the outlet. The pressure controlled valve provides an integrated fail safe function to the pump when an electrical valve fails. The pressure controlled valve is inactive in the first position for an output pressure below a threshold level, allowing an electrical valve (pulse width modulation (PWM) valve) to selectively control pressure in the control chamber under normal operation of the pump. In fail safe regulation mode, the electrical valve function is disabled and the pressure controlled valve is active in its second position, controlling pressure in the control chamber. Channels and vents in the pump can be opened and closed based on selective movement of the valve when the outlet pressure is at or above a threshold level.

  • Patent number: 9109597
Abstract: A variable displacement vane pump has a plurality of seals between the inner surface defining the housing's internal chamber and an outer surface of the control ring. The seals define pressure regulating chambers. A first chamber is defined between a pair of seals located in a circumferential direction of the ring on opposing sides of the pivotal mounting of the ring and has at least one inlet for receiving pressurized fluid. The circumferential extent of the first chamber is greater along a portion for applying force to the ring in a second pivotal direction than along a portion for applying force in the first pivotal direction such that a net force is applied in the second pivotal direction. A second chamber has at least one outlet for receiving pressurized fluid such that the entire circumferential extent of the second chamber applies force to the ring in the second pivotal direction.
