  • Patent number: 11796555
Abstract: A pump assembly and a method for sensing rotary motion of the pump therein are disclosed. The pump assembly includes a pump, a controller, and an optional driven electric motor. The components may be axially aligned and mounted relative to one another. The controller includes a circuit board that is oriented in an axial direction of the pump assembly so that it faces in a radial direction. A 3D rotary sensor is mounted on the circuit board and is designed to detect motion parallel to its front face and motion in a plane perpendicular to its front face, including rotary motion of the pump, for output to the controller. The controller is configured to control the pump via controlling the drive shaft of the motor or pump.

  • Patent number: 11493036
Abstract: A variable displacement vane pump is described. The pump includes a control chamber provided between a housing and a control slide. A pressure-controlled relief valve is in fluid communication with the outlet path and moves to block or unblock a relief port based on output pressure of the lubricant. A feedback channel fluidly connects the control chamber to an inlet path of the pump. The feedback channel further connects to a control port that is connected to a main control valve. The relief valve and control valve are distinct and not fluidly connected. The relief valve moves once the pressure in the outlet path exceeds a predetermined amount, opening the relief port, and thus delivers a portion of the output lubricant to the control chamber via the relief port, thereby pressurizing the control chamber and reducing eccentricity of the pump by displacing the control slide.

  • Patent number: 11480173
Abstract: Disclosed is a pump for dispensing lubricant to a system. The pump includes: a housing having an inlet for inputting lubricant into the housing and an outlet for delivering the lubricant therefrom. A control slide is pivotable about a pivot pin within the housing in a displacement increasing direction and a displacement decreasing direction to adjust pump displacement. A resilient structure biases the control slide in the displacement increasing direction. A pressure relief valve is mounted to the pivot pin and positioned along an outflow path leading pressurized lubricant from the control slide to the outlet. The pressure relief valve is biased in a closing direction and has a pressure receiving surface receiving pressure from the lubricant in the outflow path to urge the pressure relief valve in an opening direction. Opening the relief opening allows outflow of lubricant to relieve pressure in the outflow path.

  • Patent number: 11421685
Abstract: A vane pump comprises a housing and a control slide. A rotor rotates to draw lubricant into a rotor receiving space of the slide via a housing inlet and discharges the lubricant via an outlet. The control slide moves to change its eccentricity relative to the rotor for increasing and decreasing a pressure differential between the inlet and outlet. The control slide is biased in a displacement increasing direction. The control slide has one or more seals defining a control chamber with housing. The one or more seals includes a seal assembly received in a recess on a control slide outer surface. The seal assembly has a base element in the recess and a bearing element pivotally attached to the base element and bearing against an inner surface of the housing for sealing. The pivotal attachment includes male and female pivotal connectors coupled together.

  • Patent number: 11035360
Abstract: Disclosed is a gerotor pump including an inner gear mounted on a first axis, an outer gear mounted on a second axis and meshing internally with the inner gear in an offset manner, and an electrical motor including a rotor and a stator having a radial gap therebetween in a radial direction. The pump also includes a spindle fixedly coupled to the outer gear to facilitate maintaining the radial gap. The spindle is rotatably coupled for rotation about the second axis. The spindle aids in maintaining a consistent radial gap during operation of the gerotor pump. The inner gear may be coupled to a drive shaft for driving the gears. The gerotor pump may be driven via an electric or mechanical driver. A pressure plate may also be positioned adjacent the gerotor gears and within the housing. The spindle and pressure plate help secure the pump parts both axially and radially.

  • Patent number: 10871161
Abstract: An epitrochoidal vacuum pump includes a housing having a chamber, a rotor rotatably received within the internal space of the chamber, and a drive shaft configured to rotate the rotor eccentrically about an axis within the chamber in an epitrochoidal manner. An externally toothed guide sprocket meshes with and guides movement of a guide gear of the rotor as it is driven by the drive shaft. A chamber inlet draws air under negative pressure into the housing, and an outlet is provided to expulse air under positive pressure from the housing. Further, a fluid inlet is provided to input lubricant along the drive shaft and into the internal space of the chamber. The fluid inlet is communicated by channel(s) in an interior of the housing. The lubricant is drawn into the housing via a pressure differential.

  • Patent number: 10815991
Abstract: A dual input fluid pump system for coupling to a transmission or an engine and an electrical motor is disclosed. The system may include a first external gear, vane, internal gear, or gerotor-type pump, a second external gear pump, and connecting shaft. Gears of the second pump include one-way clutch bearings that enable operation of the system in multiple modes including engine-only; motor-only; a combined mode where the engine operates the first pump via the shaft and the motor operates the second pump with an external gear rotating in its pumping direction at a rate greater than the shaft; inlet boost; and a disconnection mode. Also noted is a pump that has a first shaft for coupling the engine to a first external gear and a second shaft for coupling the motor to a second external gear, as well as a one-way clutch bearing that performs in a similar manner.

  • Patent number: 10030656
Abstract: A variable displacement vane pump has a pressure controlled valve moveable between first and at least second valve positions based on an output pressure of the pressurized lubricant delivered through the outlet. The pressure controlled valve provides an integrated fail safe function to the pump when an electrical valve fails. The pressure controlled valve is inactive in the first position for an output pressure below a threshold level, allowing an electrical valve (current, solenoid, pulse width modulation (PWM) valve) to selectively control pressure in the control chamber under normal operation of the pump. In fail safe regulation mode, the electrical valve function is disabled and the pressure controlled valve is active in its second position, controlling pressure in the control chamber. Channels and vents in the pump can be opened and closed based on selective movement of the valve when the outlet pressure is at or above a threshold level.
