Abstract: A method for continuous carbonation and optionally cooling of drinking water which can be carried out in a user-friendly appliance which can be accommodated in any household and provides the consumer with the possibility of dispensing preferably cooled, CO.sub.2 -containing drinking water by the glass or cupful, is characterised in that in the continuous (in-line) process drinking water taken from the mains supply is carbonated and is optionally cooled; the device comprising a carbonation section for connection to the drinking water supply main and at least one pressure-controlling tap at the end of the dispensing line, and optionally a cooling system.

Abstract: Apparatus for neutralization of acidic pollutants in flue gas contained in a flue gas channel comprising a flue gas channel for containing a flue gas, a suspension feed pipe having a delivery opening and being connected to apparatus for preparing and maintaining an erosive suspension of a finely divided basically reaction solid in a liquid for introducing suspension as such into the flue gas channel, a compressed gas pipe having a gas discharge opening, said opening being positioned to discharge gas so as to atomize the suspension after it has exited the delivery opening, a device for determining the amount of flue gas flowing through the channel and the amount of pollutants therein and apparatus for simultaneously and separately controlling the amount of suspension introduced and the concentration of said suspension and the amount of compressed gas used depending on the determined amount of flue gas, pollutants, or flue gas and pollutants in the flue gas channel.

Abstract: An apparatus for neutralizing acidic or acid-containing pollutants in furnace flue gases comprising a flue gas duct having an inner pipe suspended therein and arranged so that the flue gases can flow both inside and outside the pipe. Preferably, the gases flow upwards around the outside of the pipe to an outlet zone. Atomizers project into the inner pipe for spraying an extremely fine suspension of a neutralizing agent in water into the flue gases flowing through the pipe. The inner pipe is formed from a plurality of longitudinal strips which are separate from each other and are suspended from their upper ends. Vibrating apparatus is provided for periodically vibrating the strips to dislodge deposits of neutralizing agent and fly ash on the inside of the pipe, thereby preventing the build-up of a permanent coating.
