Abstract: A dynamic roof top for a truck body and method of assembly is provided. The dynamic roof top comprises at least one dynamic panel having a plurality of wheels for translating the at least one dynamic panel from an extended or closed position to a retracted or opened position and from the retracted or opened position to the extended or closed position. A static panel is included that allows the at least one dynamic panel to obtain and enveloped condition between the dynamic panel and the static panel. A rail system is also provided to allow the dynamic panel to translate from the extended or closed position to a retracted or opened position and from the retracted or open position to the extended or closed position.
Abstract: An inventive hinge has the ability to be biased toward open and closed positions and/or is adapted to be hidden in door assemblies. The hinge includes a first bracket adapted to be mounted to a first workpiece. The first bracket comprises a generally tubular sleeve and opposed spaced-apart surfaces including first openings that are aligned with each other. A second bracket is adapted to be mounted to a second workpiece. The second bracket comprises opposed spaced-apart surfaces including second openings that are aligned with each other. The first bracket and the second bracket are oriented with respect to each other effective to align the first openings with the second openings. A hinge pin is received in the first and second openings effective to enable the first bracket to be pivotally movable relative to the second bracket. The tubular sleeve extends from the first bracket generally parallel with an axis of the hinge pin.
Abstract: A corrosion-resistant utility body comprises a pair of body side storage compartment units adapted to be mounted along rear side portions of a truck chassis. Each storage compartment unit is comprised of a storage compartment assembly that comprises metal walls forming compartments that lead to separate side openings at the outside of the storage compartment assembly. The compartments can include a plurality of vertically spaced adjustable shelves for storing equipment, tools, supplies and the like. An outer one-piece face plate is fastened to outer surfaces of the storage compartment assembly. The one-piece face plate is comprised of metal and includes door openings aligned with each of the side openings of the storage compartment assembly. Door assemblies are connected to the one-piece face plate in alignment with the door openings. A utility vehicle includes a truck chassis, a cab mounted to a front portion of the chassis, and the present utility body mounted to a rear portion of the chassis.
Abstract: An adjustable quick release door hinge for connecting a door to a door frame comprises a hinge component, a hinge bracket, and a pin for connecting the hinge bracket to the hinge component. The hinge component includes a housing having an interior concave surface, an elongated portion extending from the housing and a rotatable bearing member contained in the housing. The bearing member has an arcuate portion and an aperture. Portions of the bearing member protrude from the interior of the housing. Each of the protruding portions is flat. A fastener device is used for connecting the hinge component to a door frame or door. The hinge bracket is attached to the other of the door or door frame. The pin extends from the hinge bracket and is received by the aperture of the bearing member of the hinge component for connecting the hinge bracket with the hinge component. Also featured is a quick release hinge component and a method of attaching a door to a door frame.
Abstract: A vehicle door is made by providing a first sheet metal door panel with fastening portions at a peripheral portion of the first door panel. The fastening portions each have at least a portion that extends at a first angle of not greater than 90 degrees with respect to a body of the first door panel. A second sheet metal door panel is provided with flange portions at a peripheral portion of the second door panel. The flange portions extend transverse to a body of the second door panel. The vehicle door is formed by fastening each of at least two of the fastening portions of the first door panel to an associated one of the flange portions of the second door panel.
Abstract: A cargo tie down assembly and method of use thereof for a vehicle platform. The tie down assembly includes a tie down member for securing cargo on such a vehicle platform. The tie down member has an opening therethrough. An anchor is adapted to extend in a first opening in a rail of such a vehicle platform. The anchor extends across the opening in the tie down member for restricting movement of the tie down member between an operative and a retracted position.
