Patent number: 5484527Abstract: A filter assembly employs a base which mounts a disposable filter element cartridge. The cartridge includes either a single stage or a dual stage filter system. The base has custom and generic structural members. Variations in base design are accommodated in the custom member, the generic member having a generic design. The custom member is molded from polymeric material and requires no additional machining or treatment prior to use. This eliminates filter model specific shop fixtures and gigs, reducing costs and providing greater flexibility.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1993Date of Patent: January 16, 1996Assignee: Stanadyne Automotive Corp.Inventors: Leon P. Patent number: 5474676Abstract: A filter assembly employs a bracket and a base which mounts a disposable filter element cartridge. The bracket has a bracket mounting portion for mounting the bracket to a vehicle and a base mounting portion for mounting the base. The bracket mounting portion may be offset from the base mounting portion to provide mounting flexibility. The base mounting portion has a plurality of outwardly projecting catches that engage and support a corresponding number of hangers on the base. A threaded stud mounted on the bracket is received between the hangers. A nut in threaded engagement with the stud is torqued into engagement with the base, securing the base to the bracket.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1993Date of Patent: December 12, 1995Assignee: Stanadyne Automotive Corp.Inventors: Leon P. Patent number: 5312546Abstract: A fuel filter assembly of a type wherein a disposable cartridge element is suspended below a base is adapted so that cartridge replacement may be accomplished in a dry or spill-free fashion. A plug is dimensioned and positioned within the base and extends into the mounted cartridge to occupy a pre-established cartridge volume. When the cartridge is axially dismounted from the base, the cartridge essentially gains free volume. The free volume gain allows for the cartridge to capture any fuel which may drain from the base.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1993Date of Patent: May 17, 1994Assignee: Stanadyne Automotive Corp.Inventor: Leon P. Patent number: 5215060Abstract: A rotary distributor fuel injection pump having a fuel system for circulating fuel continuously from a fuel supply pump via an end chamber at one end of the distributor rotor and an annular fuel chamber surrounding the distributor rotor to a return line and a pressure regulator in the return line for regulating the upstream pressure and continuously returning excess fuel to the supply pump. An electrical control valve is selectively opened during the pumping strokes to spill fuel into the end chamber and terminate the fuel injection event. An auxiliary passage in the rotor resets the pressure in the distributor outlets to approximately the same initial pressure. In an air purging mode of operation, the control valve is held closed until after the distributor port moves out of registry with each distributor outlet to prevent back flow to the end chamber.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1991Date of Patent: June 1, 1993Assignee: Stanadyne Automotive Corp.Inventors: Kenneth H.
