  • Patent number: 4761795
Abstract: An improved receiver for modulated bandspread carrier signals is disclosed. The invention includes an antenna for intercepting a plurality of modulated carrier signals bandspread at a first clock rate; a radio frequency section in communication with the antenna for selecting a received signal from the plurality of signals; and an intermediate frequency section in communication with the radio frequency section for converting the received signal to an intermediate frequency signal. The intermediate frequency signal is digitized and multiplied by a pseudo-random code stored in a first memory for demodulation. Successive demodulation products are added, stored and used to provide in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) signals. Means are provided to for utilizing the I and Q signals to control the rate and the timing of the multiplication of the digitized signal with the pseudo-random code stored in the first memory.

  • Patent number: 4726965
Abstract: To metallize transparent conductive paths of indium tin oxide (ITO) on substrates of display devices, a solderable metal layer is applied by electroless deposition. If the metal layer is adjacent a liquid crystal display device, the display device may be manufactured and tested prior to the electroless deposition, with only an edge of the substrate being dipped into the deposition bath. Prior to the deposition of the solderable metal layer, the indium tin oxide surface may be reduced and an adhesion improving layer of may also be deposited by above the indium tin surface and below the solderable metal layer. Integrated circuits can then be soldered to the metallized conductive paths.

  • Patent number: 4726010
Abstract: The invention relates to an optical communication system for transmitting subscriber-assigned information in both directions between a center (1) and a plurality of subscribers (3ato 3n), particularly to the subscriber loop of a broadband communication system. In a remote distribution facility which is of either distributed (FIG. 1) or lumped (FIG. 2) design, the optical waveguides (5ato 5n) of a group of subscribers living or working near each other are coupled to a common optical waveguide (4) (or to two common optical waveguides) connected to the center (1). Subscriber-assigned signals to be transmitted from the center to the subscribers are combined into an electric time-division-multiplex signal which is transmitted as an optical signal with a single wavelength (.lambda..sub.o) to the vicinity of the subscribers and distributed to the latter. From the electric time-division-multiplex signal, each of the subscribers takes only the signal intended for him.

  • Patent number: 4720657
Abstract: A shallow electronic image display device having a trough-shaped display screen of glass with a slightly convex exterior surface and a planar phosphor coated interior surface with a peripheral side wall terminating in an edge defining a common plane in sealing relation with a matingly configured peripheral flange of a tray-shaped metallic back case to form a chamber. Disposed within the chamber within the back case is an areal cathode structure in generally parallel relation with the interior surface of the screen with a plate-shaped electron beam control structure in parallel relation intermediate the interior surface and the areal cathode structure. A tensioned metal band encircles the side walls of the display screen to provide implosion protection.

  • Patent number: 4719469
Abstract: A direction determining system having a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, a linear antenna array and a fast switching facility, the linear antenna array comprised of at least two antenna elements and the GPS receiver including two Costas Loops. The fast switching facility permits an input signal received by the two antenna elements to be processed and alternately supplied to the Costas Loops in synchronism for measuring the phases of the input signals received nearly simultaneously. The phase difference between the output signals of the two Costas Loops is measured in a phase meter and the pointing angle of the linear antenna array relative to the direction of a GPS satellite is determined by interferometry.

  • Patent number: 4695477
Abstract: In coating a smooth glass faceplate panel with phosphor to produce a phosphor screen for use with flat color picture tubes, a basic mask is placed onto the glass faceplate panel. Thereafter; one at a time, one coating mask for each respective color is placed over the basic mask and the phosphor belonging to the respective coating mask is deposited. The phosphor is dispersed in a reactive binder and meets with an activator sprayed on or otherwise applied to the glass faceplate panel.

  • Patent number: 4688089
Abstract: To detect horizontally moving portions of a TV frame formed from two adjacent fields, the vertical local frequency at a vertical edge of the moving portion of the picture is measured with a narrow-band-pass filter circuit which is tuned to the local frequency of the comblike structure at ta vertical edge of staggered lines of the two fields of the frame. When such an edge structure is detected, the circuit delivers a detection signal.

  • Patent number: 4686671
Abstract: A communication system with fixed stations (FS), mobile stations (MS), and control stations (LS) is disclosed in which the control stations are interconnected by transmission paths and have additional, closed transmission paths connected to them. In the transmission paths, the fixed stations (FS) are arranged in series. Communication is on a time-division-multiplex basis. The control stations (LS) assign the TDM channels to the individual mobile stations (MS) via the fixed station (FS) in charge of the respective mobile station.

  • Patent number: 4663561
Abstract: Hold members are used for abutting a shadow mask on the pins in the rim portion of the faceplate of a color picture tube. These hold members are of a two-part design and connected to one another with the aid of means permitting a transverse movement in relation to the axis of symmetry of the color picture tube. These means may consist either of a swivel joint or of a straight line motion device. During the first insertion of the shadow mask into the faceplate, any possible tolerances of the pins can be compensated for because the possible transverse movement of the hold members. The spacing between the shadow mask and the phosphor screen is not affected.
