    Abstract: An example heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) vent includes a front surface, an RF module, and an antenna coupled to the RF module. The front surface is configured to direct air flowing through the HVAC vent into a room, and includes an antenna opening. The RF module is configured to wirelessly transmit or wirelessly receive a communication signal. A portion of the antenna protrudes through the antenna opening and beyond a plane of the front surface.
