    Abstract: A fan-coupling device with a unitary magnetic pole is disclosed. The magnetic pole is of a unitary, ring-shaped construction and includes a choke space and a ridge that promote an increased amount of magnetic flux generated by an electromagnet to travel to a magnetic armature on a fluid flow valve, resulting an increase in the amount of magnetic force that acts upon the valve. This is an improvement over the prior art two-piece magnetic pole structure and over a unitary magnetic pole without the choke space and ridge. The magnetic pole also includes apertures in which protrusions on a sound dampening gasket are inserted to reduce the noise resulting from the armature striking the magnetic pole.

    Abstract: A switch (10, 200) is provided for installation in the air conditioning (A/C) system (12) in a vehicle (16) for intermittently operating the clutch (20) in the A/C system (12) each time the control (44) in the A/C system (12) provides power to operate the clutch (20) to prevent slugging. This turns the compressor (14) a few turns each time the clutch (20) is energized during intermittent operation to purge liquid refrigerant and lubricant from the compressor (14) to prevent slugging. The switch (10, 200) can be installed in existing vehicles by connecting the switch (10, 200) in the wiring harness (18) of the A/C system (12) to the power lead (38) from the control (44) to the clutch (20) and between the ground lead (40) from the clutch (20) and a ground. The switch (10, 200) can include a microcontroller (52) for controlling the operation of a power transistor (70) to intermittently ground the clutch to provide the intermittent operation.

    Abstract: The present invention is a reinforced connection between a distributor body and a distributor cap. The distributor cap rests on the distributor body as in the conventional arrangements. However, an additional clamp is provided to mount over the interface between the distributor cap and distributor sandwiching the components there between. A screw/bolt passes through the clamp and through both the cap and distributor body and engages a threaded portion of the clamp. By simply tightening the screw/bolt, the cap and distributor are clamped together without inducing concentrated stresses in the distributor body. The clamp may be used in a retrofit application to strengthen the existing connection between the cap and distributor body, repair the connection in a cracked or otherwise damaged distributor, or installed as part of an original equipment design.

    Abstract: A fluid cooling device carrying cooling fins thereon also carries a plurality of series of plates one above the other. Each of the series of plates is composed of an upper and a lower plate which are in spaced relationship with one another. The space between the upper and lower plates of each of said series of plates define a channel therewithin which is connected to the corresponding channels in each of the series of plates with all of said channels being also connected to inlet and outlet openings. The portions of each of the plates within each of the channels defined therein carrying projecting baffles therewithin which are adapted to cause turbulence in the fluid to be cooled which passes through said channels from the inlet opening to the outlet opening of the device.

    Abstract: A refrigerant recovery and purification system is provided. A one-pass system removes refrigerant, filters and purifies it and condenses and stores the refrigerant in its liquid state for reuse. A collection tank is provided which separates the non-condensible gases, thereby eliminating pressure buildup in the storage tank. The non-condensible gases are vented back to the system to selectively provide positive pressure for vacuum relief. The system also includes an oil separator for refrigerant which has passed through the compressor with a feedback line to return the oil to the compressor.
