Abstract: The present invention is directed to a safety anchor for mounting on the roof of a building. The safety anchor comprises an anchor member and a base for supporting the anchor member. The anchor member is provided with a closed loop extending from the base for attachment of the safety line and an elongate securing member in contact with the surface of the base. The anchor member is attached to the base by a plurality of points of attachment between the elongate securing member and the surface of the base. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the anchor member is a U-shaped member securely attached to the base by a plurality of points of attachment between the arms of the anchor member and the surface of the base. The closed loop extending from the base is defined by the interior periphery of the anchor member extending from the base and the exterior periphery of the base between the arms of the anchor member.
