Abstract: This coilable rule and its replacement cartridge comprise a tape mounted in a cartridge adapted to be detachably mounted in turn in a casing. The cartridge constitutes an integral unit and consists of a central post rigid with a lateral flange and of a spool comprising a lateral flange adapted to pivot about the central post. The lateral flange of the central post is formed integrally with an element for retaining the inner end of the tape on the spool, and this element extends over the outer peripheral wall of the spool, from which it is spaced, and is parallel to the central post. Lug means are also provided for holding the cartridge against rotation in the casing.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a bubble tube for a bubble level, comprising the following stages:completely filling a barrel-shaped machined cavity (9) in the tube with suitable liquid such that the entire hollow part of the bubble tube is full;positioning a plug (14), comprising a cavity of which the precisely determined inner shape corresponds to the required bubble volume, into the seat (13);joining the plug to the body of the bubble tube.Application: to the precision-manufacture of bubble tubes by mass production.

Abstract: A holder for the setting of a level vial on the web of extruded or molded spirit levels, which comprises a base plate, the back wall of which is fixed to the level web, said base plate extending upwards along its edges through two symetrical parallel branches, the ends of which presenting a transversal perimeter whose center is set over relating to the plane of the base plate, said perimeter being provided with support means and said base plate being provided with means for locking the holder to the level web.

Abstract: A winding drum for a flexible tape comprises two side faces and peripheral wall defining spaced first and second grooves. The first groove has a longitudinal axis parallel to the axis of rotation of the drum and has an opening at one end thereof that is defined by one of the side faces and is closed at the other end thereof. First and second pins are located respectively in the first and second grooves whereby an end of a flexible tape may be bent to form a loop and passed around the first pin in the first groove and the tape then passed over the peripheral wall of the drum and the free end of the tape and passed around the second pin in the second groove before being wound around the drum.

Abstract: Mechanism for locking and advancing the blade of a cutting instrument.Mechanism distinguished by a rectilinear blade-holding sheath with longitudinal slit having a series of notches on its lower edge, together with a slider to maintain the locking and the advance of the blade, said slider being molded in one piece of synthetic material comprising structures for supporting the blade, a means of elastic return, and a means of locking by a ratchet mechanism in the notches of the shaped blade-carrier.Application: industrial manufacturing of cutting instruments, particularly of the "cutter" type.

Abstract: A measuring tape is contained in a housing which includes an electric motor for rotating the spool on which the tape is wound to wind the tape up. A safety mechanism is provided to switch the motor off when the tape is fully wound, and a reduction mechanism is provided between the motor and the spool, so that the spool can rotate more slowly than the motor. The instrument is portable and has a handle with which an operating switch may be associated. The motor may be battery driven.
