  • Patent number: 5809619
Abstract: An improved hose clamp is described with an improved clamp insertion feature that enhances the insertion of the clamp band into the screw housing. The improved hose clamp comprises a screw housing having a ramp extending out from the housing wall, a rotatable screw mounted within the screw housing and having a tip or end piece. The hose clamp also has a clamp band with spaced apart slots along the length of the band. As the clamp band is inserted into the housing, the screw tip slides up on the ramp, thereby lifting the screw relative to the screw housing and significantly improving the ease of inserting the clamp band into the screw housing.

  • Patent number: 5560087
Abstract: The laterally secure clamp assembly for use with clamps that cannot be force fit according to the present invention comprises a flexible band containing a cut-out proximate one end, and a series of elongated notches at the opposite end, a worm screw and a housing adapted to be secured to the band. The housing comprises a pair of planar tabs enclosing the band. Each tab comprises at least one abbreviated finger, extending from each tab and oriented at an angle in the direction of the screw. The fingers are oriented prior to assembly so that when the tabs are bent over to secure the band, the angled fingers abut the cut-out, preventing lateral force deformation of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5431458
Abstract: A coupling for no-hub pipe segments has a shield covering an elastomeric gasket. The shield has a plurality on corrugations oriented transverse to the pipe axis and arranged in discrete areas. These corrugations are separated by corrugations oriented parallel to the pipe axis arranged in discrete areas. Clamping bands securely clamp the shield and gasket to the pipe segments. The pattern of corrugations permits the shield to assume a shouldered shape when the clamping bands are tightened and the coupling is installed on pipes of slightly varying diameter. The gasket is provided with a pattern of thick sealing sectors and adjacent groove sectors laterally spaced relative to thick sealing sectors. This pattern permits the clamping bands and shield to form a restriction impeding the movement of the shield relative to the gasket when the clamping bands are tightened.

  • Patent number: 5379896
Abstract: A windshield wiper display container is disclosed which has a blister with an open top and a reclosable flap serving to close the open top of a blister. The flap has a pressure sensitive adhesive applied to its lower surface which acts to releasably seal the flap to the front wall of the blister. The user opens the container by lifting up on the flap and folding it up to expose the windshield wiper within the blister.

  • Patent number: 5169015
Abstract: A radiator cap including a manually manipulable crown provides an auxiliary vacuum seal for sealing a potential vacuum leak path around a member penetrating through a central aperture of the crown. The member may be a rivet or stud which secures the crown, a bell housing and a discoid spring in an assembled condition. Alternatively, the member may be a vent pin connected to a manually manipulable safety lever. The auxiliary vacuum seal preferably takes the form of a resilient O-ring which surrounds the member and is sealingly interposed between the discoid spring, the member and the bell housing to seal a potential vacuum leak path between the member and the discoid spring.
