Abstract: An anti-jam assembly for an article destroying appliance includes a fixed core mount assembly including a first support member spaced apart from a second support member with at least one moveable cutter shaft rotatably mounted and disposed there between. A third elongate member extends in parallel relationship to the at least one cutter shaft. This third support member is moveable from a first position to at least a second position. The first and the at least second position correspond to a variable width of a feed path directing an article toward the at least one cutter. An arm is affixed to the elongate member and pivotal at a mounting surface when the elongate member moves toward the second position. A sensor activates when it detects movement of the arm. The arm and the sensor are removed from a proximity of the at least one cutter or the feed path.

Abstract: A shredder includes a housing having an opening for the insertion of media to be shredded. A cutting assembly for the shredding of media is disposed in the housing. A media detector including an infrared emitter and an infrared sensor is disposed about the opening for the detection of the presence of media to be shredded in the opening. A controller is disposed in the housing and is in responsive communication with the media detector for controlling the operation of the cutting assembly. The controller is programmed with a dynamic media detection threshold that is at least in part passed upon an emission sensed value and a background sensed value.

Abstract: A punching and binding machine used to bind sheets to discs. The machine may include a lever with a first arm, a second arm, and a third arm. Each arm may be pivotally and slidably connected to minimize the force required by a user to punch cutouts in a stack of sheets. The lever may include a flipper connected to a binding member to actuate punching and binding simultaneously.

The article holder comprises hangers that may be extended to detach the article holder from the binder and/or configure the article holder for hanging on support rails. Also described is a method of extending hangers of the article holder to both detach the article holder from the binder shell and configure the article holder for hanging.

One embodiment is directed to a folder comprising a first panel, a second panel coupled to the first panel, at least one tab mating feature associated with the second panel, and a tab configured to mate with the at least one tab mating feature. The at least one tab mating feature is configured such that the tab is positionable in at least two positions along a first axis adjacent a first edge of the second panel and in at least two positions along a second axis adjacent a second edge of the second panel, wherein the first axis is transverse to the second axis.

Abstract: A hole punch includes a base and a handle assembly to actuate a punch pin. The base may include a housing enclosing a punch head, and the housing may include an opening where the handle assembly is adapted to be recessed within the opening. The handle assembly may include a first linkage and a second linkage, each pivotally coupled to the base, and a third linkage pivotally coupled to both the first and second linkages, where the third linkage is arranged to move substantially parallel to the base. The first linkage may be substantially parallel to the second linkage when the punch pin is in a rest position, and the second linkage may be configured to nest within the first linkage when the punch pin is in a deployed position.
