  • Publication number: 20180091750
Abstract: Embodiments of the technology disclosed herein provide filtering pixels for performing filtering of signals within the pixel domain. Filtering pixels described herein include a hybrid analog-digital filter within the pixel circuitry, reducing the need for computationally intensive and inefficient post-processing of images to filter out aspects of captured signals, and account for ineffectiveness of optical filters.

  • Publication number: 20170302197
Abstract: Systems and apparatuses are provided for increasing the possible force and/or travel generated in MEMS devices. For example, comb fingers may be utilized to form a strain actuator to generate larger forces. As another example, the force advantage of a parallel plate actuator is leveraged while also leveraging the travel advantage of comb drives to increase force and/or travel capable of being generated. The systems and apparatuses disclosed may utilize one or more comb drives operationally attached to one or more flexures and/or frames.

  • Patent number: 9481245
Abstract: A vehicle sobriety interlock system including a sobriety testing apparatus for testing a driver of a vehicle for intoxication and an interlock system responsive to test results from the sobriety testing apparatus for controlling ignition of an engine of the vehicle. The interlock system, in response to a test result indicating that the driver is sober, allows the driver to start the engine of the vehicle. During a vehicle warm-up time period of a predetermined length following start of the engine and before a transmission of the vehicle has been engaged for putting the vehicle in motion, the interlock system delays a retest of the driver with the sobriety testing system for intoxication.

  • Publication number: 20160314729
Abstract: A near-eye light field display for use with a head mounted display unit with enhanced resolution and color depth. A display for each eye is connected to one or more actuators to scan each display, increasing the resolution of each display by a factor proportional to the number of scan points utilized. In this way, the resolution of near-eye light field displays is enhanced without increasing the size of the displays.

  • Patent number: 9466165
Abstract: An apparatus and system that ensures that defined equipment systems are monitored and checked before the equipment may be used is described. The invention includes apparatus that encourages the equipment operator to perform specified monitoring checks on specified systems at specified intervals, and requires that the check is done by the operator physically removing a check device such as a crankcase or transmission dipstick, radiator cap, air filter, and so on. Failure to perform the required monitoring task results in the equipment being disabled or locked out so that the operator is unable to use the equipment; for example, a starter motor may be locked out so that the engine cannot start until a specified monitoring check has been completed.

  • Patent number: 9442103
Abstract: A method for preventing circumvention of a intoxication test includes defining a detection time envelope with a first sensor activated in response to the presence of a human test subject proximate the first sensor and sensing with a second sensor for a change from an ambient condition caused by the presence of the human test subject proximate the second sensor. The intoxication test is validated when a change from the ambient condition is detected by the second sensor during the time envelope defined by the first sensor.

  • Patent number: 7105004
Abstract: Locking and releasing apparatus for operating a medical device includes a handle and a lever member coupled to the handle for grasping engagement by an operator. The lever member is moveable in opposite directions relative to the handle. A locking and release mechanism operably connects the lever member to a force transmitting member for operating the medical device at a location distant from the handle. The locking and release mechanism locks movement of the force transmitting member in one direction after movement of the lever member in a locking direction. The locking and release mechanism releases movement of the force transmitting member in the one direction after opposite movement of the lever member in a releasing direction. The lever member operates the locking and release mechanism for releasing the movement of the force transmitting member in the one direction substantially upon changing movement of the lever member from the locking to the releasing direction.
