  • Patent number: 4909330
Abstract: An automotive earth moving vehicle for civil and military applications. The lade is movable with respect to the body by two independently operable sets of fluid driven actuator sets which are in intersecting spatial relationship. Each actuator set is arranged symmetrically with respect to a vertical median plane of the blade and its actuators are in parallel spatial orientation with respect to each other. One set of actuators is designed for lifting and lowering the blade while the other set is designed to bring about oscillation and tilt. The blade comprises two segments horizontally linked to each other and is thus adapted to alternate between a dozer mode and a plough mode. Wing members may be provided for attachment to the two flanks of the blade in the plough mode. The vehicle also comprises a sensor for use in the plough mode adapted to feed the blade movement control with data on the terrain.

  • Patent number: 4881463
Abstract: An electric igniter assembly for igniting an initiator charge in artillery mmunition. The initiator charge is enclosed within a chamber sealed at one end by an electrical ignition element comprising two conductors linked by means of an electrically resistive bridge, one of which conductors is in permanent electrical contact with a DC supply terminal and the other of which is connected to a contactor block comprising an aluminium body having part of its surface covered by an aluminium oxide coating, thereby permitting contact with a complementary DC supply terminal, so as to complete the circuit through the resistive bridge which glows, thereby sparking off the initiator charge. The novel igniter assembly features a relatively low margin between the values of current intensities for "NO FIRE" and "ALL FIRE" whilst at the same time avoiding electromagnetic radiation hazards (HERO).

  • Patent number: 4854240
Abstract: A two-stage, shaped charge projectile having a rear principal charge and a front secondary smaller charge with an initiator-fuse assembly for sequentially igniting the secondary and principal charges so that the secondary charge is first ignited, followed by ignition of the principal charge after a predetermined time delay. The secondary charge is maintained at a set distance in front of the principal charge which is shielded from rearwardly expanding combustion gases and rearwardly flying debris when the secondary charge is ignited, with these gases and debris being diverted away from the principal charge after the secondary charge has been detonated.

  • Patent number: 4825492
Abstract: A rapid deployment stationary bridge. The bridge comprises a central girder lanked by two side girders, each of the central and side girders consisting of a plurality of aligned and connected sections. For deployment the central girder is first assembled on one bank of an obstacle by aligning and interconnecting the constituent sections thereof. As the assembly progresses the central girder is launched by gradual advancing it towards the opposite bank. Some time after the commencement of the assembly and launching of the central girder the side girders are assembled by slidably mounting the constituent sections of each side girder in alignment on one side of the central girder and interconnecting them. In the course of their being assembled, the side girders are launched in such a way that the advancement of the side girders lags behind the advancement of the central girder.

  • Patent number: 4811664
Abstract: A slider type fuse for a cargo warhead grenade. The slider is slidable in a lane normal to the axis of the striker pin and carries additional to the detonator a pyrotechnic device comprising an igniter charge, a booster charge removed therefrom and located in close proximity to the detonator, a delay charge between the two and swingable striker means which become unlocked in the armed state and are adapted to strike the igniter charge in consequence of centrifugal forces that develop in the course of flight. The delay of the pyrotechnic device is designed to outlast the flight time of the grenade. Whenever the striker does not strike the detonator when the grenade hits the target, the detonator is initiated by the booster charge of the pyrotechnic device.

  • Patent number: 4730559
Abstract: A safetied demolition charge fuze of the kind that upon actuation switches rom a safe to an armed state. Double safety means are provided to ensure the subsistence of a predetermined delay time. A detonator ignitable via a pyrotechnic delay charge is located within a safe-and-arm slide. In the safe state, the detonator is out of alignment with the pyrotechnic charge due to the safe position of the safe-and-arm slide. The latter is retained in the non-aligned, safe position by means of a retainer shaft which is locked in the retaining position by a heat sensitive defense mechanism. After a predetermined time delay, heat transferred from the burning pyrotechnic delay charge cause the latter to unlock and release the retainer shaft which thereupon and by yielding to its compression spring, clears the safe-and-arm slide. In consequence and by the action of springs associated with the slide the latter is urged to the armed position at which the detonator is aligned with the pyrotechnic delay charge.

  • Patent number: 4715282
Abstract: A cluster bomb grenade having a fuse and striker pin mechanism in the rear ortion is known per se. On the rear portion there are mounted telescoping wings in a centro-symmetrical arrangement and adapted to swing from a folded to an unfolded position. There are provided retainer means cooperating with the striker pin in such a fashion that in the locking position of the striker pin the wings are located in the folded position, which retainer means are adapted to be jettisoned upon retraction of the striker pin. There are also provided stop means for arresting the wings in a desired position. When in operation the grenade is rejected from its cargo projectile the telescoping wings unfold and extend, whereby the spin rate of the grenade is gradually reduced.

  • Patent number: 4676165
Abstract: A fuze of the type used in a rifle grenade assembly with a striker, a rotor nd a rotor lock includes one or more improvements. One pertains to the striker to prevent it from reaching a detonator-striking forward position more than once. Once it advances to the forward position it is locked in it by a spring biased locking pin. Other improvements relate to the release of the rotor by the rotor lock. The rotor remains locked, i.e. in the disarmed state even after intentional launching. It is released to assume the armed state only when the launched assembly accelerates at a certain rate toward the target.

  • Patent number: 4651648
Abstract: A pyrotechnic, aircraft carried bomb such as a smoke bomb, illumination b, flare bomb and the like. The bomb comprises detachable delay and nose sections and two main body sections separable from each other and each holding a pyrotechnic charge. The tail section houses a braking parachute which is deployed by the action of a time fuze upon release from the carrier aircraft. The tail and nose sections further house each a main parachute associated each with one of the main body sections. After a certain delay the deployed braking parachute starts an ignition train which causes ejection of the tail and front sections, deployment of the main parachutes, separation of the two main body sections from each other and ignition of the pyrotechnic charges therein. The two main body sections parachute down and reach the ground in soft landing with the pyrotechnic charges burning during the descent and, if desired, they may be arranged to continue to burn for a while after landing, e.g. in case of a smoke bomb.
