Patent number: 12285437Abstract: A pre-prodrug, comprising a drug, e.g., doxorubicin, which has off-target toxicity (e.g., cardiotoxicity) with respect to its antineoplastic activity, and an amine functionality of the drug incorporated into a disubstituted maleimide (DMI). The pre-prodrug may be linked to a targeting or de-targeting agent or a polar modulator, e.g., charged ligand, amino acid, peptide, etc., to increase therapeutic index. The pre-prodrug is hydrolyzed to the prodrug, having a disubstituted maleamic acid (DMA). A polar modulator such as glutamic acid prevents cellular uptake of the prodrug, but not the doxorubicin drug released from the prodrug after dissociation. The prodrug is pH sensitive, and below pH 7.0, tends to cleave to form free drug and cyclized maleic anhydride. Tumor environments tend to be more acidic, e.g., pH 6.8, than cardiac tissue, e.g., pH 7.4, and therefore the heart is spared while the drug is selectively released within a tumor.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2020Date of Patent: April 29, 2025Assignee: The Research Foundation for The State University of New YorkInventors: Ming An, Lan Yao, Anqi Zhang

Patent number: 12269071Abstract: Systems and methods for self-cleaning a surface of an object where an electrodynamic shield is mounted to a surface of the object. The electrodynamic shield includes one or more sets of electrodes atop a substrate, at least one or more sets of electrodes being covered in a protective film. A coating is applied to the top surface of the protection film. A signal pulse generator is connected to the one or more sets of electrodes. The signal pulse generator generates a pulse signal that causes the one or more sets of electrodes to generate an electric field. The pulse signal comprises a plurality of different pulse signals which have phase differences between consecutive signals, and the electric field causes a particle atop the coating to experience an electrostatic force and be repelled away from the coating. These pulse signals (including shapes, amplitudes, shifts, and frequencies) can be tuned to increase efficiency of removal depending on dust type and relative humidity.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2018Date of Patent: April 8, 2025Assignee: The Research Foundation for the State University of New YorkInventors: Alexander Orlov, Shrish Patel, James F. Patent number: 12253391Abstract: A dynamic capacitive sensor configuration is disclosed which imposes minimal force and resistance to motion on the moving electrode. Moving electrodes avoid adverse effects of large bias voltages such as pull-in instability, despite arbitrary levels of compliance. This configuration facilitates incorporation of highly compliant and thin electrode materials that present the least possible resistance to motion. This type of material is particularly useful for sensing sound. A large bias voltage can be applied without influencing its motion, e.g., 400 V. The electrical sensitivity to sound is high, e.g., approximately 0.5 volts/pascal, two orders of magnitude greater than typical acoustic sensors.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2019Date of Patent: March 18, 2025Assignee: The Research Foundation for The State University of New YorkInventor: Ronald N. Patent number: 12255338Abstract: Atomically dispersed platinum-group metal-free catalyst and method for synthesizing the same. According to one embodiment, the catalyst is made by a method in which, in a first step, an Mn-doped ZIF-8 catalyst precursor is prepared by reacting a first solution comprising zinc nitrate hexahydrate and manganese chloride dissolved in an acid/water solution with a second solution comprising 2-methylimidazole dissolved in water. Then, in a second step, the Mn-doped ZIF-8 catalyst precursor is thermally activated, i.e., carbonized, to form an Mn—N—C catalyst. Preferably, the thermal activation is performed in a multistep fashion, first at a lower temperature of about 800° C. and then at a higher temperature of about 1100° C. After carbonization, the catalyst material may optionally be subjected to an absorption process, followed by a second thermal activation. The absorption process may involve dispersing the catalyst material in a solution of manganese chloride and urea in hydrochloric acid and isopropanol.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 2021Date of Patent: March 18, 2025Assignees: The Research Foundation for the State University of New York, Giner, Inc.Inventors: Gang Wu, Hui Xu, Mengjie Chen, Fan Yang

Patent number: 12247998Abstract: A scattering-type scanning near-field optical microscope at cryogenic temperatures (cryo-SNOM) configured with Akiyama probes for studying low energy excitations in quantum materials present in high magnetic fields. The s-SNOM is provided with atomic force microscopy (AFM) control, which predominantly utilizes a laser-based detection scheme for determining the cantilever tapping motion of metal-coated Akiyama probes, where the cantilever tapping motion is detected through a piezoelectric signal. The Akiyama-based cryo-SNOM attains high spatial resolution, good near-field contrast, and is able to perform imaging with a significantly more compact system capable of handling simultaneous demands of vibration isolation, low base temperature, precise nano-positioning, and optical access. Results establish the potential of s-SNOM based on self-sensing piezo-probes, which can easily accommodate near-IR and far-infrared wavelengths and high magnetic fields.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2022Date of Patent: March 11, 2025Assignees: The Research Foundation for The State University of New York, Yale UniversityInventors: Michael Dapolito, Mengkun Liu, Xinzhong Chen, Adrian Gozar
