  • Patent number: 4830297
Abstract: The mounting plate of a winding form assembly for a flier-type armature winder has a split hub with an axial bore clamped to a bearing at the end of the flier spindle. The mounting plate has spaced segments defined by splits. A clamp screw has a head confined in a bore in the split hub so that, upon loosening the screw, it causes the plate segments to be forced apart, thereby increasing the size of the axial bore so that the plate may easily be removed from the bearing.

  • Patent number: 4827601
Abstract: Wire trimmer blades having sharp edges are located at the forward end of the inner commutator shield of an armature winding machine. Clamps gripping the start and finish wires of the armature are moved to cause the wire segments gripped by the clamps to be stretched and then severed at the sharp edges.

  • Patent number: 4765551
Abstract: A winding form of the type used with flier-type winding machines and of the type comprising a chuck body and a pair of side plates for guiding wire onto a dynamoelectric core to be wound has one or both side plates yieldably and pivotally mounted on the chuck body. The yieldably mounted side plates may be used for tightly winding coils or for preventing snagging of the wire on the core.

  • Patent number: 4739807
Abstract: An apparatus for wave winding, forming and transferring a coil and for inserting the coil into the slots of a stator core. The coil is first wound on a coil form. After this, a pair of forming arms having wire formers mounted thereon to form a plurality of loops in the coil. Before the coil is stripped from the coil form, coil insertion tooling is moved relative to the coil form. The forming device includes apertures into which a pair of the insertion tooling blades are inserted whereby part of the wire formers will be located inside the insertion tooling blade array and part of the wire formers will be located outside of the blade array.

  • Patent number: 4710085
Abstract: A lamination stack selector for supporting a vertical column of laminations in a chute and for selecting a stack of laminations having a predetermined height from the bottom of the column. The selector includes a plurality of support pins biased to a first, column-supporting position, wherein the support pins extend beneath and engage the bottom margin of the column, and movable to a second, column-releasing position, wherein all of the support pins are out of engagement with the bottom margin of the column. When a stack of laminations is to be selected from the lower end of the column, a lamination receptacle is elevated to a position beneath the column. As the lamination receptacle is moved into position to receive a stack of laminations, the support pins are pushed out of supporting engagement with the column by posts moving with the receptacle. The support for the column is thus removed and the column lowers into the receptacle. Thereafter, the receptacle may be lowered.
